The basketball community mourns the passing of one of our veterans, a man who served both his country and the game with pride and honor. Your legacy will continue to inspire future generations. “We belong to Allah and to him we shall return”

UN FRIEND

In the early 2000s, when someone said “EVE Golhi Maafannu,” everyone knew exactly where it was. That’s where I grew up with a great group of friends known as UN Friends . The mastermind of our team was and still is my all-time good friend, Mohamed Shaheen (Pottey).
There were two boys called Mahey, so Pottey used to and still does call me “IFC Mahey” 🤣. From a young age he guided me not only as a friend but also as a coach from winning the Kudamoosa Cup all the way to playing at Thimarafushi Football Ground he was always there.
He created opportunities for many of us to perform on different futsal stages at that time. I loved it and enjoyed every single moment.
Today I just want to say thank you to my good friend for everything he has done for me and for how much he helped shape my career.
I’m sharing these stories of Abo & Pottey because I believe in appreciating people especially those who stood by me defended me and supported me at every stage of my life. These are the people I will never ever forget.
