💔 *Rest in Peace, Mervis Mtambo* 💔

It is with deep sorrow that Bangwe Cheetahs Rugby Club announces the passing of our player, *Mervis Mtambo*.

Mervis passed away last night after battling complications from sickle cell anaemia. She is being laid to rest today.

Mervis was more than a player to us - she was family. Her dedication, spirit, and love for the game will never be forgotten.

Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends, and teammates during this difficult time.

Last Saturday marked our first 15s match, an extraordinary game against the Luchenza Red Ants Rugby in Luchenza. A memorable start to our 15s journey!

Just a few weeks ago, we put out a call for new players, eager to expand our ranks and embrace the spirit of inclusivity. One thing was clear: while our team was strong, there was a missing piece to our puzzle – a female squad. 🚺💪

The response we received was nothing short of incredible. People from all over Bangwe, sharing the same love for the game, rallied behind our cause. And on the 30th of March, history was made as our newly formed female team stepped onto the pitch for the very first time.

Facing off against the formidable Mulanje Sapitwa Rugby Team, the stakes were high and the excitement palpable. While the final score may not have tipped in our favor, what we gained from that experience was invaluable. 🤝💭

We learned the importance of resilience in the face of defeat, the power of unity in overcoming challenges, and the sheer joy of playing the game we love. Each tackle, each pass, and each moment on the field served as a lesson – a steppingstone towards our ultimate goal.

As we reflect on that game, we do so with heads held high and spirits undeterred. For in every setback lies an opportunity for growth, and in every loss, a chance to rise stronger than before. 💪🏽🌟

Another exhilarating day on the field it was yesterday with the Cheetah Rugby Club! After what felt like an eternity since our last Southern Region League game, Yesterday was all about camaraderie, sportsmanship, and pure rugby fun. 🙌

We had the pleasure of facing off against the determined and passionate Bumble Bee, a developing team hailing from Ndirande. It's always inspiring to see new talent emerging in the world of rugby, and yesterday's match was a testament to the growth of the sport in our community. 🐝🏉

As the sun bathed the field in its golden glow, we brought our A-game, as we always do. With determination in our hearts and the support of our amazing fans, we left it all out on the field. And guess what? As usual, we came, we won, we conquered! 💪

But beyond the final score, Yesterday was about celebrating the joy of rugby, the bonds of friendship, and the thrill of competition. It's these moments that remind us why we fell in love with this incredible sport in the first place. 🥰🏉
