FCB Nyasa Big Bullets have concluded interviews for candidates shortlisted for the club’s vacant head coach position.

The recruitment exercise resumed on Tuesday and was completed on Wednesday as the People’s Team intensifies efforts to appoint a substantive coach to replace interim mentor Gilbert Chirwa.

Chirwa took charge of the team in December 2025 following the departure of Peter Mponda, who was dismissed from his role as head coach.

Bullets initially launched the recruitment process earlier this year, but the exercise was temporarily put on hold after the club decided to continue with Chirwa on an interim basis.

A total of five candidates were interviewed for the post, with only one local coach making the shortlist.

Flames head coach Kalisto Pasuwa has named a 23-man squad for Malawi’s upcoming international friendly matches against Ethiopia, scheduled for 6 and 9 June 2026 in Ethiopia.

Former FCB Nyasa Big Bullets coach Rodgers Yasin has died this evening at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Blantyre where he was admitted on Tuesday.

A family representative has confirmed saying other details including burial arrangements will be communicated later.

Yasin coached Bullets before Kalisto Pasuwa took over the team in 2018.

Rodgers played for Blue Eagles, Wanderers and Bullets and went to Escom as team manager.

He also played for the Malawi National Football Team.

At the time of his death, he was the Technical Director for second-tier side Chilobwe United and one of the key members of the Football Legends Association.

Victory for Mighty Wanderers at Mpira Stadium.

The defending champions have defeated a stubborn Karonga United by 4 goals to 1.

Isaac Kaliati scored the first for the Nomads with Lameck Mithi netting the second. Alex Benson pulled one back for the visitors before Mithi's brace restored Wanderers' lead to two goals.

The second half lacked the spark and was predominated by Karonga before Wanderers scored their fourth [Mithi's Hat-trick] to put the game beyond the visitors reach.

Lameck Mithi was deservedly named player of the match and he went away with the match ball.
