Beyond Netball

Zanani Foundation Mphatso the Gift Foundation Malawi Assemblies of God University Netball Association of Malawi

The Zanani Foundation has partnered the Mary Waya Netball Academy and the Malawi Assemblies of God University (Magu) to roll out the 'Machitachita ndi Netball' initiative aimed at empowering the youths with structured netball training and mentorship.

The foundation's director Jacqueline Haynes says the initiative will be launch later this month.

"This initiative aims to nurture talent, provide career guidance, promote healthy lifestyles and inspire team work amongst the youth. We plan to implement this program from March to July this year in Chiwamba Extension Planning Area [EPA] in Traditional Authority Chimutu in Lilongwe," she says.

Haynes says the initiative targets 120 girls between the ages of 12 and 20.

The organisers have since called for support from various stakeholders towards the successful implementation of the program.

NETBALL + SRHR

Your little girls might be in class, but missing crucial life skills lessons as their minds are filled with netball? Don't worry!

We've combined Sexual Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) lessons with netball drills.

This week, it was about catching and throwing. Something intriguing emerged: good catching skills allow players to gain control, while bad catches put them under pressure.

We linked this to SRHR, teaching our young players that self-control is key. They've mastered catching techniques and learned to monitor their space, just like making informed choices.

Join us every Thursday in Lilongwe, Chinsapo.
