The Malawi Women’s National Team has now settled into Rwanda ahead of the start of the Kwibuka Cup 2026.
Following their arrival yesterday, the squad has begun final preparations before tournament action gets underway on 10 June. The tournament continues to provide valuable international exposure and development opportunities for women’s cricket in Malawi.

The Blantyre Men’s Premier T20 continued this weekend with another strong round of domestic cricket fixtures, highlighting the competitiveness and growing standard of club cricket in Malawi.
The weekend featured several impressive batting performances, including Limbe Mimbulu’s dominant total of 242/2, while Red Thunders secured an important chase against Ndirande Highlanders.
Player of the Week honours went to Suhail Vayani of Limbe Mimbulu following an outstanding all-round display:
• 98* runs from 37 balls
• 4 wickets for 34 runs
Domestic competitions such as the Premier T20 continue to play an important role in strengthening player development pathways and competitive opportunities within Cricket Malawi.

The Malawi Women’s National Team has arrived in Rwanda ahead of the Kwibuka Cup 2026 🇲🇼🏏
With the tournament beginning on 10 June, the squad is now preparing for an exciting run of fixtures against Nigeria, Rwanda, Brazil, and Zimbabwe HPC over the coming days.

Earlier this week, Cricket Malawi welcomed participants from the Women Leadership Programme to The Cricket Academy in Blantyre for an engagement focused on leadership, development, and the role of sport in creating opportunities.
The visit included presentations, interactive discussions, and tours of Cricket Malawi’s facilities, providing participants with insight into the organisation’s development structures and wider vision for cricket in Malawi.
Osman Mhango and Tifera Chawinga contributed to the sessions by sharing perspectives on leadership within sport, community impact, and the importance of creating inclusive pathways for women across all levels of the sporting landscape.
Cricket Malawi values opportunities to collaborate with programmes that encourage leadership growth, knowledge sharing, and stronger representation for women in sport.
