I wander and wonder a lot. Ocean artist with a woo woo brain. šŸ–ŒļøšŸ šŸ¦ˆ

A piece I did for Ocean Day 2026. I am a self taught artist so this audio resonated a lot with me. I definitely did not grow up with magic talent but what I did have was the passion for the ocean and my love for creating. Follow me if you like my style and if you’re a mermaid too! šŸ¤šŸ«¶šŸ¼šŸ’™

Current Project: Amphiprion.

I’ve finished 13 out of 30 species of Amphiprion, aka Nemo’s family. Did you know that there are 30 (known) different brothers and sisters of this family all around the world? In my entire diving career, I’ve only seen about 4-5… I remember taking them for granted because I saw them daily when I started diving in Borneo and My instructor said ā€œdude, some places don’t even have themā€ . I did not believe him until I realised that I miss seeing nemos. I squealed so hard when I saw them again years later in Indo. There is one particular A.Clarkii that is in Palau that likes to bite my finger…

I don’t consider myself an academic person, words bore me fast and I find it really hard to retain informations. (I was horrible at school) But when I read that there were 30 diff types of anemonefish, I wanted to know them all and the best way for me was to draw them. By drawing them, it allows me to focus on their key features and pattern distinctions. While researching, I was often confused because they look so alike! For example, A.polymnus and A. Latezonatus, the middle band for Latezonatus is wider than the ā€œtear droppedā€ band that Polymnus has. I will make more comparisons for this on another post!

I want to help educate people about the little wonders of our ocean and I hope to do that through my art, making it easier for visual learners like me. Sharks, Whales and Mantas are great but WHAT ABOUT THE TINY LITTLE FISHIES?! Sorry, macros deserve so much more love and I have a goal to tell you what a Frogfish is and that there are 5 types of Stonefishes!…. Anyway, for this particular project, I am exploring colour pencils as my medium. I can’t wait to finish the rest! 🧔

Tagging for this to be an entry to get one of them .co sketchbook giveaway! I would love to fill up that beautiful sketchbook with many more fishes on it. 🧔🤭

Ocean Day 2026

For the fourth and final prompt ā€œFuture of the Oceanā€, I decided to go for a more abstract idea. It was challenging for me to express my feelings towards the future of the ocean because there is just so much to say. The first thing that popped in my mind was eyes. Eyes are the window to our soul and if you’ve ever locked eyes with an animal, you understand why I’ve decided to go with this theme. I have locked eyes with mantas, staring contest with sharks, getting side eyed by turtles and that feeling just reminds me that these are sentient creatures with souls that deserves to live on this earth as much as we do, if not more. It is crazy to think how humans decide that we are better than them just because they look different and don’t speak like us. How did we become so entitled to take everything from them without any regards of their lives. We must start being conscious with our actions and help conserve this home that we both share.

I chose the sacred geometry ā€œFlower of Lifeā€ alongside with Edward O.Wilson’s quote ā€œOne Planet, One experimentā€ to highlight that we are all interconnect, we are all the same and unique in our own roles on this Earth. We must not allow these eyes to close forever or it will affect us all.

Thank you host and organisers for hosting this event! It has been such a fun challenge and not only have I learned a lot about myself, I’ve made so many friends and learned so much about my marine friends too! Thank you everyone!

Ocean Day 2026

For the third prompt ā€œOcean Mysteriesā€ , I highlighted some x-files type of things such as the Yanaguni Monument, and the odd behaviour of Port & Starboard. Ngl, reading about them kinda made me chuckle because of the chaos and ruckus they are making. I honestly would love to see them in the wild, and maybe get their autograph or something. 🤪 I texted my marine biologist friend about the oddest ocean mysteries and she told me about the migration of European eels! Learning about them kinda blew my mind, why do they it? How? So many questions?! Also, how do eels boom boom?? Do they release eggs into the current or do they wrap around and lock each other like snakes? Also, ghost sharks are not sharks? Like Pluto isn’t a planet anymore! How does the lantern shark control its light?? Now you see me and now you don’t? ArePeekaboos their favourite game?

I’ve always been fascinated by the deep because of its mysterious vibes. If I could pick a way to gošŸ’€, it would be drifting into the abyss and fall into the deep, surrendering to the darkness and peace of mother ocean. To finally arrive at the whale graveyard in Diamantina fracture zone and decompose there, ah… a girl can dream…

Ocean Day 2026

For the second prompt ā€œOcean Superheroesā€ , I wanted to highlight the beautiful coral reefs that plays such a vital role not just for the ocean but for the world! A healthy coral reef system is a very healthy ocean. I’ve also put in the amazing cuttlefish and the flamboyant because they are my superhero character since I’ve been hypnotised by them.

I scratched my head a little designing the composition of this illustration and I’ve never really drawn corals before but I am content with how it turned out.

Who is your favourite ocean superhero ? 🐟🐔

Thank you to the hosts and organisers!
