The sea lion colony in La Paz offers the chance to get up close with California sea lions in their natural habitat. Their curious and playful personalities make every encounter unforgettable, and it’s easily one of our favourite experiences on the water 🦭🌊

The ocean is one of those places that makes you realise how much there is still left to discover. Many of us think we’ve seen it all until we take our first scuba dive.

We can’t imagine a world where kids grow up without that same sense of curiosity for the ocean.

That’s why we created our Kids Scuba Diving Vacation Courses: to inspire the next generation to explore the blue. Through fun, safe, and engaging experiences, children will be introduced to the world of scuba diving while learning about the ocean and the incredible life it holds🌊🤿🧑‍🧑‍🧒

Ten years ago, I started Cabo Private Guide with a determination to build something a little bit different: more personalised and boutique. As a solo woman (and a mom of a 6 month old baby to boot!) I was just like any man, couple, team, partnership starting a business: just a human with determination to make something work for my family.

What didn’t occur to me was how much other women would appreciate a female guide, a female instructor, a female environment. Which is something I offered by default, but what became the business model by design.

So, when I jumped off the boat last week and opened this award, I was truly humbled!

This recognition from PADI Americas for our “Outstanding Contribution to the Growth of Women in Diving” means an enormous amount. 💙

Cabo Private Guide remains proudly 100% female-owned, and over the past decade I’ve had the privilege of working alongside some incredible women — Divemasters, instructors, managers and dive professionals who have helped shape this company.

But supporting women in diving has never meant creating a space only for women. We’ve also had some fantastic men on our team who have supported me, supported their female colleagues and shared our belief that diving should be a profession where talent, hard work and character matter.

To everyone who has worked with us, trained with us, dived with us, recommended us or simply cheered us on along the way — thank you.

Ten years later, I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve built.

And I’m particularly proud that, somewhere along the way, we’ve helped a few more women find their place underwater. 🌊💙

Home to an incredible diversity of marine life, Cabo Pulmo is one of our favourite places to dive because no two dives are ever the same. One day you might find yourself surrounded by massive schools of jacks, the next sharing the water with bull sharks.

The secret to what we do here at Cabo Private Guide (Shhh! don't tell anyone!) is invest our time and our attention into fully personalised services. Mainly because we enjoy it so much, so it accidentally became our business model!

Sure, we might not have the biggest dive boat in the bay, we might be small and boutique. But repeat clients, that become friends, are the backbone of what we do.

Here's our owner Laura Tyrrell with Peter, one of our first divers, who truly believed in us and the quality service we were striving to provide. We love welcoming him back at every opportunity! Especially because his gear takes over Laura's spare room for most of the year 😆
