To Freja — The Girl Who Thinks Every Pad Holder Is Her Soulmate
You are not “just being friendly.”
You are running a full Nordic diplomatic mission inside the gym.
You arrived on your scooter wearing sunglasses the size of a welding mask, a sports bra, and lycra so tight it looks spray-painted on.
The baggy Muay Thai shorts we gave you?
Still folded in your gym bag.
Untouched.
Like a polite suggestion.
Let me explain something to you, Freja.
This is a Muay Thai gym in Thailand — not a summer house in Mykonos.
You don’t need to hug every coach.
The wai is enough.
You don’t need to hold the pad man’s forearm while laughing at everything he says like he’s the lead singer of a boy band.
He told you to turn your hip.
Not to move to Oslo with him and raise striking-based children.
You stand very close when he’s explaining combinations.
Closer.
Closer.
Now he is leaning backwards like he’s avoiding a clinch he didn’t agree to.
Every correction is:
“Okaaaay Kruuu 🥰”
Every round ends with:
“Selfie???”
You call every trainer:
“My favourite.”
All of them.
In the same session.
You sit between rounds fanning yourself and saying:
“I’m dyingggg in this heat,”
like a snowstorm is going to arrive and rescue you.
Meanwhile the Thai girls next to you — who have been training since before you discovered coconut milk — are on round six and have not adjusted their hair once.
You laugh at everything.
You clap when someone lands a kick.
You film the fighters and whisper:
“They are like… real warriors.”
Yes.
That is why we are here.
And then the full performance:
The post-training protein shake at the desk.
The head tilt.
The:
“Can I get extra pads with Kru Lek tomorrow? He understands my energy.”
Freja.
Every trainer understands your energy.
It is visible from space.
And here is the beautiful part:
Nobody is annoyed.
Because you bring fun.
You bring noise.
You bring life.
You just don’t yet understand the rhythm.
In Thailand, charm is quiet.
Respect has space.
And the cutest thing you can possibly do…
is train hard without performing it.
Wai.
Smile.
Do your rounds.
Stop trying to adopt the coaching staff.
Because Freja —
This is not speed dating.
It’s Muay Thai.
