🍀 On Saturday, we witnessed a truly historic milestone — the very first Gaelic football games ever held in Mexico! Ladies player Karla León, a Tabasco native, shares what Copa Azteca means to her:

“Here in Mexico, we spent three years trying to learn this incredible sport. A group of us from different countries came together, including Ireland, the United States, and Mexico. We were so confused about everything (and we're still learning every day!). The organizers and the more experienced players devoted themselves patiently and passionately to teaching us.

Excited to see more, we ventured across the continent to meet other teams, continue absorbing knowledge, and create beautiful friendships. Something connected with each of us and drove us to continue. Dreaming of hosting an event like this in our country became a recurring dream: to show our new friends some of our joy, our food, and our city, just as they had done in recent years. And so Copa Azteca was born, built with a little piece of each of us.

Learning accompanied us at every stage, fuelling our enthusiasm. Having these teams travel to our home city meant so much to us as a club that it isn’t enough to just say ""thank you for being here"" to the people of Houston, Madison, and Na Fianna (San Diego), Tom Walsh (USGAA Treasurer), the Irish Embassy in Mexico, the referees (Colm Flannery and Tom Stack), and the assistants. Rest assured, your presence was incredible. Copa Azteca was held for you and for a group of enthusiasts called San Patricios GAA Club Mexico City.”

Delighted that our club and our upcoming tournament Copa Azteca got a shoutout back in the home country. Massive thanks to .mc.carthy for coming down, meeting the crew, and telling our story (altitude and all).

What a weekend at USGAA Finals in Philadelphia! Massive thanks to and for the warm welcome and congratulations for hosting such an amazing event.

We had a great win in the Men’s Junior B Football on Friday versus Cleveland 3-14 to 2-09 before going out in the semi final on Saturday to Trinity Milton (Boston) 1-11 to 3-08 in a fight to the bitter end. The progress these boys have made since their first Finals in 2023 has been phenomenal. Keep fighting the good fight lads and who knows where we’ll be this time next year!

Well done to for taking home the trophy.

¡Qué fin de semana en las Finales de la USGAA en Filadelfia! Muchísimas gracias a y por la cálida bienvenida y felicitaciones por organizar un evento tan increíble.

El viernes tuvimos una gran victoria en el Fútbol Americano Juvenil B Masculino contra Cleveland (3-14 a 2-09) antes de caer eliminados en la semifinal el sábado contra Trinity Milton (Boston) (1-11 a 3-08) en una lucha a muerte. El progreso que estos chicos han logrado desde su primera Final en 2023 ha sido fenomenal. ¡Sigan luchando, chicos, y quién sabe dónde estaremos el año que viene!

¡Felicitaciones a por llevarse el trofeo a casa!
