Happy Oil Expropriation Day!

On this date, March 18, 1938, the Mexican government nationalized the country's oil fields, expropriating all petroleum/oil assets from the international companies had built the infrastructure used for production. On this date in 1938, via a national radio broadcast, then President Cárdenas declared Mexico's oil belonged to the country and the populace of Mexico. At time, the newly formed Mexican oil company, PEMEX, was created as the nation's sole petroleum corporation (and still exists today).

This date is now a national observance and is typically celebrated by the oil and gas industry with events to honor the national ownership and sovereignty of the country's oil reserves.

It's always fun to see the many dance groups perform on the streets during the day along Rafael E. Melgar! We loved all these great pics posted here in front of La Mission! We had fun meeting and hosting the Carr family from Stoughton, MA yesterday here at PalMar! Enjoy the rest of your vacation and cruising across the Caribbean! :-)

We enjoyed hosting yesterday the Purovesi family from Finland! Their cruise ship ported in Cozumel and they joined us after touring the San Gervasio ruins! Thanks for spending time with us here at PalMar and hope the remainder of your cruise is relaxing and fun! :-)

As many of you know, we take reservations due to our size and to help make PalMar a different experience than your typical Caribbean beach club! We like remaining small, quiet, etc., not a massive tourist trap and reservations are how we manage our attendance!

But, that being said, we do welcome (depending on the bookings for the day), walk-ins! So you can always drop by and if we have availability, you are more than welcome to spend the day with us! This couple we really will miss as they were on the island staying at a friend's villa/condo that was within walking distance, found us and have been back 3-4 times now. But they are heading home so we will wish them a fond farewell and hope they are back visiting again and are more than welcome to spend their days here at PalMar! :-)

This is a great product and we really hope more companies will get behind this innovation that will save tons of marine life and actually provide food for sea turtles and other life! We enjoyed hosting and serving Laura, Larry, Jill and Sam from Stillman Valley, IL USA today while their cruise ship docked here in Cozumel! They are enjoying one (1) of our favorites, our quesadillas! Bon Appetit!

We also love being eco-friendly! Returnable glass bottles of Coke and those straws are bio-degradable paper! :-)
