Nothing goes to waste at Rancho Baaxal 🐴✂️
We have just given some of our horses a tail trim, to keep them looking sharp. But that hair isn't going anywhere. It gets carefully saved and turned into handmade jewelry at our RB Gift Shop, so guests can take home a real keepsake and memory from their visit.
Haircut for our RB boys — and a little piece of your favorite horse, just for you. 🤎
Six horses, six strands — do you know our horses well enough to match them? Drop your guesses in the comments and we'll reveal who's who.

We're proud to share that Rancho Baaxal has been recognized with two awards from the LUXlife Resorts & Retreats Awards 2026:
🏆 Private Horseback Experience of the Year 2026 – Mexico
🏆 Guest Satisfaction Excellence Award 2026 – Mexico
We don't take these awards lightly. Behind them is a simple commitment: every guest who rides with us leaves with a genuinely wonderful experience, and every horse in our care is treated with the attention and respect it deserves.
This recognition belongs to our whole team, and to the horses who make it all possible.
If you've ridden with us before — what was your favorite part of the experience? And if you haven't visited yet, what would you most want to experience at Rancho Baaxal? Tell us in the comments 👇
🐎 A few days ago, we had the pleasure of hosting a film crew sent out by Paralela 45, a Romanian travel agency getting ready to launch direct flights from Romania to Cancún. They came to film horseback riding through the jungle for their promotional video showcasing the Yucatán Peninsula, and we are so honored they chose our ranch and our horses to be part of it. 💛
The crew was absolutely wonderful — kind, easygoing, and clearly passionate about their work. We also got to meet the Romanian actors who starred alongside our horses, and they were just as warm and friendly. We had such a good time with this lovely Romanian crew, and shared a beautiful day together in the jungle. 🎬🌿
To think that soon, people all the way from Romania will be able to fly directly here and maybe one day ride these same trails with us is pretty nice to imagine. Thank you, Paralela 45, for including us in your vision for the Yucatán! We can't wait to see the final video. 🙏🐴
Kim and her adorable, horse-crazy daughter Jasmine recently visited the ranch for the first time — and brought the sweetest gift with them: handmade fly masks for our horses! Kim has been following us on social media for a while, and with 12 horses here, we always need fly masks (seriously, so many horses, so many masks!) — so her timing couldn't have been better. Turns out Kim runs her own sewing business and makes these masks herself — hands down the best I've ever seen. 😍
Manotas is already showing his off in the pictures!
Thank you, Kim, for donating these to our horses — and thank you, Jasmine, for being such a great riding buddy! 🐴💛
It's been 2 months exactly now since Manotas (and Conejo) joined our family, and we are starting to really see their personalities. Here's Manotas receiving his first treat ever from a guest (Adrian). It is pretty clear that he has not always been treated very kindly. Manotas is afraid of a LOT of things (hands in the air, fast movements, spray sounds, etc.) In spite of that, he's the sweetest, kindest soul, and I'm sure it's just a matter of time until he trusts us completely. As a riding horse, he's a gentle giant, and he's never in a hurry 🤣 With that easygoing nature, I'm sure he'll become a new guest favorite, much like our beloved Cubano was. We are so very happy to have Manotas with us ❤️
(Conejo will get his own post shortly 😉)
Just another Sunday at Rancho Baaxal 🐎🐶🐒❤️
Cleaning out some old lockers and boxes at the ranch recently led me straight down memory lane. Our very first guest book. Old photos and calendars. Log books filled with horse treatments. Bridle and dog tags from horses and dogs who are no longer with us, but never forgotten.
It hit me that I've been doing this for close to two decades now — 18.5 years, to be exact. Some of our horses have been here since day one. Others joined us along the way. And some have earned their angel wings, but they're still very much with us in spirit, and talked about often.
Nothing — and I truly mean nothing — has taught me as much as these incredible animals have. I've made mistakes, of course, but I've learned and grown alongside them, and this passion project, this mission, has become something I'm more proud of than I can put into words.
And to every guest and every follower who has been part of this journey: thank you. Without you, none of it would be possible. You are the reason we get to keep going. 🐴🤍
Learning never stops at Rancho Baaxal! 🐴❤️ We were so lucky to have our wonderful vet, Arturo Cebado, come out to the ranch for a hands-on session on bandaging techniques and specialized wound care. This kind of knowledge is truly priceless — our animals deserve the best, and that starts with us knowing how to care for them. So grateful!
