Last month photographer Keith Owens from the UK came for a ride at our ranch with his wife, and he sent us these beautiful pictures after their visit. Thank you Chris & Kat for supporting us by booking a ride with us, and for sharing these amazing photos with us.
May 10 is Mother's day in Mexico, and this year it coincides with Mother's day in many other countries too for being a Sunday.

Welcome to your forever home, Conejo and Manotas!
This week we welcomed two new horses to our RB Family - to a life filled with lots of love ❤️
Conejo means rabbit in Spanish, and he got that name because he was a show jumping horse, and was even once the national champion in his class. After not having any horse friends for quite some time, he is extremely happy to be making new friends at Rancho Baaxal.
Manotas means "big hands" or in the horse world actually "big front hooves" and it's for a reason - his hooves are huge! He is a former polo pony that wasn't "fast enough" for his sport. He's fast enough for us though ❤️ (Fun fact: the term "polo pony" comes from the beginnings of polo, when small ponies were used for the games. Nowadays full size horses are used, but the term pony is still used in English.)
Two horses from different places and different backgrounds, but both equally wonderful and perfect additions to our family. After losing several horses the last few years, we had room for new intakes. And universe had it that these horses came to us on the very same day, making our little herd at Rancho Baaxal grow from 10 to 12 horses.
A special thank you to my dear friends and vets Arturo Cebado and Aide Salazar for making this happen, and another huge thank you to our wonderful donor, who helped us with a big part of the expenses involved in bringing these new horses to the ranch.

Yesterday I had an amazing 2.5 hour long ride with Swiss/Canadian Vera, and we had such a great time together. Vera mentioned how much she would love to see monkeys, and with 10 minutes left of the ride, universe made it happen - all of a sudden we had a bunch of monkeys above us ♡
P.S. You can book your own private, personalized longer ride with us too (we can't promise you monkeys though ;-)
Lucie has been riding with us every week for the last years during her "escape" from the Canadian winter. She has her own horse in Canada, but can't be without her weekly horse fix (or her therapy, as she calls it) while away. Lucie is a year-around supporter of the ranch, and always brings family and friends to us during her months here, and recommends us to other travelers whenever she can. Lucie and her family have become our dear friends, and an important part of our extended RB Family.
This picture was taken during the last visit for this time, with Chiquilin and Spirit enjoying some love (and special treats 😉) from Lucie.
In case you wondered what our horses do on their day off...
Our boy Capo is so full of love and kindness that just a few minutes with him will make wonders if you are feeling stressed, sad, overwhelmed, or worried. In addition to the rides we offer, you can also book your feel-good session with one of our beautiful four-legged therapists.
Many people ask us if our horses actually enjoy going out on rides. I can obviously not speak for the horses, but I can tell you what I've seen. When we have retired horses from the rides, they often get a little depressed or grumpy. And when they get to choose themselves what to do, while roaming around freely at the ranch, they very often choose to tag along on the rides. Our beloved angel horse Apache used to do this almost every day, and now Rey & Pancho are quite literally following his footsteps. ❤️ 🐎
Today we had our traditional annual Christmas party at the ranch, and as always our dear friends and vets Arturo Cebado and Aide Salazar were our guests of honor. We had a wonderful time, but it was also a bittersweet day, because this was also our goodbye (or rather please-come-back-soon) party for Terhi, who has been an amazing family member and friend for the last year. Terhi will soon be moving back to Finland, but we feel confident that she will continue being part of our family in some capacity, and our doors will always be open for her.
Our dogs also enjoyed the party, and dressed up for the occasion 🐕 🐶 🎅 ❤️
