If there is magic on this planet, it is contained in water - Loren Eiseley’s. Eiseley reflects on the profound role water plays in life on Earth. He calls it “magic” not in a mystical sense, but because water is the element that makes life possible.

These images were captured in different parts of the world. Two of the rarest and most challenging to find were the Christmas seahorse in Raja Ampat and the psychedelic frogfish in Ambon, Indonesia. They may not be the most technical shots, but both hold a special place for me — as do all the others, each carrying its own memory and moment, beneath or above the surface — glimpses of underwater life and the incredible diving community that surrounds it.
