And 18 months after stopping, most regain the weight.
That tells us something important.
GLP-1s can be incredibly powerful tools for short-term weight loss, appetite control, and quieting food noise. But the medication itself is not the entire solution.
The real opportunity is the window it creates.
I believe we’re heading toward a future where more than 50% of people may be on some form of GLP-1 or peptide-based therapy over the next decade as prices come down, access expands, and oral options become more effective/available.
But if that’s true, the biggest innovations won’t just be more medications.
They’ll be the tools built around them.
The two biggest gaps I see:
1. Helping people preserve muscle while they lose weight
2. Helping people build sustainable habits during the period when cravings are lower and behavior change is easier
Because the goal shouldn’t just be losing weight.
The goal should be using that weight loss window to rebuild your health, improve your body composition, and create routines that last long after the medication stops.
Peptides are everywhere right now.
And they’re not going away anytime soon.
The next wave of innovation will be the platforms, products, and protocols that support people before, during, and after using them.
