Today was a wonderful day.
Thank you to everyone who wrote to me, called me, and wished me a happy 60th birthday. You truly made my day — and not just my day.
At 60, I know exactly why I’m still here.

I will keep sharing with you the beauty, wonder, and joy of our planet’s underwater world for as long as I can. 🌊🐠🪸

My friend, the nurse shark. ❤️🦈

We’ve been together for more than four years now.
I visit her regularly, take pictures, admire her beauty… She usually ignores me, but I’ve learned not to take it personally. 😄
Our relationship is built on trust, respect, and a healthy amount of personal space.
Four years is a pretty serious relationship, don’t you think?
So tell me… do you think we have a future together? 😂🦈❤️

Just another ordinary day of diving in Cozumel. 😊

One minute you’re shooting macro — tiny shrimp, little blennies, all those incredible details of the reef...

Today at San Francisco Wall, there was almost no current — and the Caribbean reef sharks came to visit us. 🦈

Gliding along the wall in calm, crystal-clear Caribbean water, with sharks cruising nearby… it felt like a true underwater paradise.

Cozumel always knows how to surprise and reward those of us who truly love diving. 💙🌊

The shark was very determined when she literally pushed me out of her hiding place under the coral, where she had been peacefully resting.

I got the message. 😄 Respecting her privacy, I quickly retreated.
Shark, please forgive me for being so intrusive. I just love watching your kind! 🦈💙
Sometimes the best thing a diver can do is simply understand when it’s time to back off and let the ocean’s residents have their space.

His Majesty, the Elkhorn Coral. 👑🪸

My favorite — and one of the rarest corals you can still encounter around Cozumel.
Its massive branches once dominated many shallow Caribbean reefs, creating entire underwater forests and providing shelter for countless reef creatures. Today, seeing a healthy colony like this feels truly special.
Every time I meet one underwater, I stop for a moment just to admire it.
His Majesty deserves an audience.

Such an elegant little fish, don’t you think? Its special talent is that it’s much harder to spot than this photo might suggest.

This is a Harlequin Pipefish (Halicampus ensenadae). Its slender, elongated body, yellow-brown coloration, and tiny blue spots help it almost disappear among algae, corals, and reef debris.
You can find these little fish around Cozumel, but spotting one is not easy at all — you have to look very carefully.
And here’s another fascinating thing about pipefish: they are relatives of seahorses. And just like seahorses, it is the male who carries and takes care of the developing eggs.

A tiny underwater wonder that is so easy to miss during a big dive. 💙
