🐢 Meet the new turtle in the neighborhood!

We regularly see loggerhead sea turtles on Cozumel's reefs, and over time we've gotten to know many of them by the unique markings on their heads and shells. That's why we were so excited when we spotted this beautiful new face at Palancar Bricks last week!

This newcomer may be visiting the area because it's loggerhead breeding season, when adults travel between feeding and nesting areas in search of mates.

Here in Cozumel, sea turtle nesting season runs from May through October. While green turtles are the most common nesters, loggerheads also come ashore to lay their eggs on our beaches. Every successful nesting season helps ensure future generations of these incredible, ancient mariners.

One of the best parts of diving is never knowing who—or what—you'll meet underwater. We can't wait to see if this new neighbor decides to stick around! 💙🐢 What do you think about a name?

Two nurse sharks... always together. 💙🦈

We've spotted this pair several times over the past week, and it's hard not to wonder if romance is in the water. Nurse sharks typically mate during the summer months, with males often staying close to females before breeding. After a gestation period of about 5–6 months, mom may give birth to a litter of 20–40 adorable pups!

Could these two be the next underwater love story? We'll be keeping our fins crossed that we'll have some tiny baby sharks to celebrate in the months ahead. ❤️🌊

Yes, it's summer in Cozumel & we're incredibly lucky to see a few of these graceful animals gliding through our waters even during the summer months.

That's why we never rush our safety stops. Some of the best moments of the dive happen when you slow down, stay aware, and keep your eyes on the blue. You never know what incredible surprise might swim by next.

It was Darren, Todd, and Jodi's first day diving with Dive GalaxSea, and what a day to start! We made some new friends, shared plenty of laughs above and below the surface, and got an early jump on Shark Week with one of the sharkiest dive days we've had in a while! 🦈🤿

There's something unforgettable about your **first wreck dive**... and sharing it with family makes it even more special. 💙⚓

This week's adventure took us to the **C-53 Felipe Xicoténcatl**, where an amazing family experienced their very first wreck dive together. Watching them explore the ship and create memories they'll never forget was such a privilege!

The **C-53** began her life as the **USS Scuffle (AM-298)**, a U.S. Navy minesweeper built during World War II. After serving with the Mexican Navy for many years as the *ARM General Felipe Xicoténcatl*, she was intentionally sunk off the coast of Cozumel in **2000** to create an artificial reef.

Today, the wreck is covered in vibrant corals and sponges, providing a thriving home for countless species of fish, crustaceans, and other marine life. Artificial reefs like the C-53 help reduce pressure on natural reefs, create new habitat for ocean life, and give divers incredible places to explore while supporting marine conservation.

Last week's dives were packed with action! 🦈🐚🐟

From cruising alongside sharks to witnessing what can only be described as a full-on **conch invasion**, and ending with an incredible swirling bait ball, every dive brought something new to the adventure.

While it wasn't Nick, Elaine, Kendall, Cody & Dylan's first time diving with us, it *was* their first experience navigating Cozumel's famous swim-throughs and exploring their very first wreck! 🤿💙

I'd say they absolutely crushed it! 👏
