After years of dreaming and planning it, Juan Olmos is finally getting his shot at the World's Longest Hill Climb.
He'll be piloting this proven battle horse - a Ford Crown Victoria built to EXCEED Police Interceptor specs. This isn't a retired cop car, it's a purpose-built hill climb weapon for our mountain.
To attack 30 kilometers of closed road, climbing from 1,600 to 8,200 feet in one shot, Juan put together the perfect cocktail:
Oil and fluid coolers, reinforced Massive suspension arms, upgraded PowerStop ceramic compound brakes with braided stainless steel lines, and Bridgestone Firehawk tires - all selected for optimal performance and survival on Mexican mountain roads.

BEGINNINGS

Before there was Baja Tarmac Racing, there was a vision.

For 12 years, the idea of racing across Baja public roads lived in the back of my mind. Life always came first. There were responsibilities, circumstances, and reasons to wait.

Until one day, I realized the years where creeping up on me...

So, in 2016, I took a leap of faith and launched a speed stage Rallye / Roadrace.

A handful of cars. One motorcycle. One thousand miles of Baja.
We didn't know exactly where it would lead.
We only knew we had to try.

That first race was the beginning of everything that became Baja Tarmac Racing. Hard lessons learned, good times where had, amazing adventures lived.

Every journey begins with a leap of faith.
This was ours.
Our gratitude to the staff that helped us make it possible, and a special recognition to the brave rider an drivers who believed in the vision regardless of our obvious lack of experience.

The Rally Historico Transpeninsular gets off the ground with a small field of racers, racing 1,000 miles of twolane blacktop from Ensenada to Cabo, setting the stage for the next great Mexican Road Rally. Hemmings tags along with Apple Farmer Racing to observe and report.

A logo should tell a story. Ours does.
As we prepare for the 9th edition of the World's Longest Hill Climb, we felt it was time to refresh our identity.
The new logo features a stylized silhouette of Picacho del Diablo, the highest peak in the Sierra de San Pedro Mártir, the mountain that defines our race.
Above it are nine stars. They represent our nine editions, while also paying tribute to one of the mountain's most remarkable characteristics: its crystal-clear night skies. Those skies are the reason Mexico's National Astronomical Observatory was built here, in one of the best stargazing locations in North America.
Every line, every star, and every detail was chosen to better reflect what makes this event unique.
Real roads. Real mountains. Real racing.
