21.1km - Half Marathon at the Putrajaya Night Race 2024
A road race winds through the beautiful urban streets of Putrajaya and the less scenic surrounding highways. It's mostly flat, except for a few flyovers

21.1km - Half Marathon at the Putrajaya Night Race 2024
I hadn't run for a while, especially on roads, and decided to take up running again during rehab. The timing wasn't remarkable, with no new personal best, but completing a half marathon was still a good way to conclude this chapter of running. In fact, I might continue running shorter distances specifically to improve my VO2 max

Fraser's offers several beautiful hiking trails where, unlike in KL, you can enjoy a hike without getting drenched in sweat. Additionally, there's a river with a waterfall, a golf course that I've never seen in use, a horse paddock, and a lake where you can find pedal boats and more!
(I should be paid for these posts 😉)

Incorporating Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) into my training regimen has proven to be a powerful enhancement to my Krav Maga skills. BJJ, with its emphasis on ground-fighting and grappling, has allowed me to strengthen my ground game.
Perfecting the technical precision that BJJ demands has, in turn, refined my Krav Maga techniques. It's sharpened my understanding of body mechanics and control, making me a more effective instructor.
BJJ's wide range of submission techniques has enriched my self-defense toolbox. Now I can better equip my students with a more comprehensive skill set, blending the striking and defensive prowess of Krav Maga with the controlled submission techniques of BJJ.
One of the most impactful lessons BJJ brings to the table is its culture of regular sparring and competition. Testing my skills against resisting opponents in a controlled setting has improved my decision-making under pressure, something I pass on to my students to help them better handle real-world situations.
But BJJ doesn’t stop at enhancing martial arts skills; it's also a fantastic conditioning tool. By boosting my strength, flexibility, endurance, and cardiovascular fitness, it's elevated my Krav Maga performance to new heights.
It's important to remember that Krav Maga remains a unique and potent self-defense system. It focuses on neutralizing threats quickly, whether they come from multiple attackers or assailants armed with weapons. This practicality and versatility are where Krav Maga truly shines. Krav Maga keeps me prepared for real-world threats

Gold in the Medium Heavy division and Bronze in the Absolutes at the Malaysia Grappling League BJJ event in October.
The absolutes were an eye opener, with plenty of takeaways ranging from technique, to tactics in handling different weights, to playing the point game.
See you back on the mat!
