Aikido Shudokan Malaysia is a Martial Art School teaching the art of
Yoshinkan System of Aikido in The history of Shudokan begins with Thamby Rajah Sensei.
Known as "the Founder of Aikido in Malaysia". Thamby Sensei began his Martial Arts career with the study of Judo. Travelling to Japan to further his studies, Thamby Sensei trained under Harayoshi Ichijima Sensei and Mifune Kyuso Sensei, who was 10th Dan and one of the foremost teachers at the Kodokan. Whilst training at the Kodokan, Thamby Sensei was introduced to Soke Gozo Shioda. As a result, Th
amby Sensei combined his training of Judo with that of Yoshinkan Aikido. A year later, Thamby Sensei returned to Malaysia, having been awarded a Black belt in Judo and a Black belt in Aikido (the first Malaysian to achieve such status).Thamby-Raja-Sensei2
While in Japan, Soke Gozo Shioda, gave Thamby Sensei the name "Shudokan", which was to be the name of the founding dojo in Malaysia. 'Shu' meaning to study, 'Do' meaning the way and 'Kan' meaning house. On returning to Seremban, Thamby Sensei established the "Shudokan" - the place to learn the way. Thamby Sensei introduced Aikido to Malaysia for the first time. Having opened the first Aikido dojo in Malaysia and was the first Malaysian to practice Aikido hence making him the Father of Malaysian Aikido. Dr. Ramlan Ahmed Sensei

Sports Science – Level 1 (National Coaching Certification Scheme – National Sports Council of Malaysia). He started learning Aikido in the year 1995 and at the end of the year 1997, he was graded to 1st Dan black belt by Kancho Inoue Kyoichi Sensei who was then the Headmaster of International Yoshinkan Aikido Federation, Japan. In early 1998, Dr. Ramlan Sensei became a student of Thamby Rajah Sensei. A year later, Dr. Ramlan Sensei was graded to 2nd Dan by Thamby Rajah Sensei. Seeing Dr. Ramlan Sensei’s enthusiasm and strong spirit, in January 2002, Thamby Rajah Sensei sent him to Melbourne for intensive training and to be trained personally under his nephew, Joe Thambu Sensei (7th Dan Aikido), who is the Chief Instructor of Aikido Shudokan Australia and also the Technical Advisor of all Aikido Shudokan dojos. Since then, Dr. Ramlan Sensei has devoted his effort to spreading Aikido under the tutelage of Joe Thambu Sensei. During Kancho Inoue’s visit to Melbourne in March 2003, Dr. Ramlan Sensei was been graded again by him to 3rd Dan. Dr. Ramlan Sensei has been constantly going to Japan and Australia to undergo advance training and has attended many seminars overseas. He participated in the 50th Anniversary of All Japan Yoshinkan Aikido Demonstration (September 2005). He also featured in many demonstrations in Australia, Japan, Indonesia and Thailand. Dr. Ramlan Sensei has also trained under world-renowned Aikido teachers such as Kancho Kyoichi Inoue, Tsutomo Chida Shihan, Takafumi Takeno Shihan, Yasuhisa Shioda Kancho (son of Soke Gozo Shioda) and Robert Mustard Sensei (Canada). July 2007, another history of Aikido Shudokan Malaysia created, when Dr. Ramlan Sensei has been graded to 4th Dan by Joe Thambu Sensei. Recently in March 2012, Dr. Ramlan Sensei was graded again by Kancho Inoue Kyoichi to 5th Dan in Melbourne. Dr. Ramlan Ahmed Sensei set up his organization with a few objectives:
to embraces the philosophies of Yoshinkan Aikido and looks to spread these philosophies to broader community
to uphold the martial arts way
to achieve and maintain a high level of Aikido for himself and also his students
to achieve accreditation for all Black belts from the International Yoshinkan Aikido federation, Japan
to maintain excellent relationship with all Aikido practitioners internationally

It was a great honor to be at Rafał Rzepus Sensei's dojo again and teach a special class there before the Christmas holiday. We had a few dojo students attend the class : Bumeikan ; Aikido Shudokan Poland; Michal Gajda Sensei's; Gniewomir Samonczuk Sensei's.
Happy to meet the old friends and the new ones.
