Nobody Told Me This Before...
The Black Belt Pressure 🥋

The day I earned my black belt, I didn’t suddenly feel like I knew everything.

I became more aware of everything I still didn’t know.

People often see a black belt as a symbol of perfection, but behind it are heavier mistakes, imperfect kicks, self-doubt and countless corrections.

This belt doesn’t mean I’ve stopped making mistakes.

It means I’ve learned to face them, correct them and keep coming back.

A black belt isn’t the end of being a student.

It’s where you truly understand what being a student means. Taekwon. 🥋

4 hours of sleep doesn't affect me at all...

At all? Definitely not. 🫩

Remember to have enough rest before going for your training. Taekwon. 🥋

How to ruin your Taekwon-Do training day?

Answer: By forgetting your belt at home.

So remember to check your bag before leaving.

Taekwon.

How Every Taekwon-Do Athlete Poses for Photos 📸

I don't know why... but the moment someone says, "Photo!" 😂

Whether it's a solo shot or a group photo...

Somehow, every Taekwon-Do athlete uses the same poses.

Same stance. Same fists. Same serious face.

Like, is it a norm? No. But literally like everyone is doing the same thing. 😂

Nothing wrong with the poses tho. Since it is Taekwon-Do. 🥋

🥋 PGTF Instructor Course 2026 🥋

Being part of the Organizing Committee for a Taekwon-Do event for the very first time.

Weeks of preparation. Nervous. Excited. Every emotion came all at once.

Side story about this photo 1:

I was helping to pass the certificates to Grandmaster Lee.

When my name was called, I handed him my own certificate… then turned around and received the same certificate from Grandmaster Lee. 😂

Grandmaster was like, “Eh! Your turn ah!” 🤣

Also, special thanks to Grandmaster Alex Lee (my 师公) and Grandmaster Lee providing valuable guidances to me. Really appreciate. Taekwon. 🥋

Photo 2. Same goes to this 😂

Pass him my cert and receive back. 😅

Master Yii was like "You again?" 🤣

Photo 3. I was called to perform patterns in front of 100+ participants. Seniors and juniors all looking at me!

Eventually you know... I was nervous... obviously 🫠 How could I not? 🙂

Photo 4. Yes... Performing patterns still...

Photo 5. I was in charge to be a model for kicking techniques. Yes, just model. 😂

As a Taekwondo athlete, I'll never forget these 5 lessons...

1. Courtesy (礼仪)
2. Integrity (廉耻)
3. Perseverance (忍耐)
4. Self-Control (克己)
5. Indomitable Spirit (百折不屈)

Over the years, Taekwondo has taught me countless kicks, patterns, and techniques.

But the lessons that stayed with me the most were never physical.

They were the values that shaped my character, guided my decisions, and influenced the way I live my life.

Sadly, I feel that many people today have forgotten the true meaning behind these principles.

Some chase rank.

Some chase recognition.

Some chase money, status, and success.

And somewhere along the way, they forget why they started.

They forget their purpose.

They forget their values.

They forget their初心.

The more I learn about Taekwondo, the more I realise that these 5 Tenets were never meant to stay inside the dojang.

They were meant to guide us through life.

Because one day, the competitions will end.

One day, the medals will stop coming.

One day, we may even take off our dobok for the last time.

But these lessons will remain.

And perhaps that's what Taekwondo was trying to teach us all along.

Not how to become better fighters.
But how to become better people.

Taught a new group of students today.

But they looked kinda familiar... They told me they are quite famous in TikTok recently.

Do you know them?

GTF Taekwon-Do 2nd Pattern (Hyong)
“Dhan-Goon” (Hyong) (Green Blue Belt)

ft. Mr. Kwan Weng Choong (Sabum)
a.k.a. my Instructor 😎

Pattern (Hyong) Meaning:

Dhan-Goon is named after the legendary founder of Korea. The 23 movements represent the first two digits of the year 2333 B.C., the year assigned by the government of South Korea as the birth date of Korea.

This pattern reflects the traditional spirit and progressive interpretation of Taekwon-Do, reminding practitioners to value history, culture, and the strong foundation passed down through generations.

Note: After Movement 14 (High Left Inner Forearm Block), all the remaining punches must be High Section Punch.
