Jeff Molina reveals hateful comments he received for wearing UFC’s Pride Month kit: ‘You’re gonna burn in hell’
Jeff Molina’s gesture of love and support was met with a vile response from a segment of the MMA fan base on social media.
The rising flyweight contender had an eventful UFC Vegas 56 fight week capped off by a split decision win over Zhalgas Zhumagulov on Saturday. In the lead-up to the bout, Molina found himself addressing a slew of comments related to his decision to wear the UFC’s special uniform in recognition of Pride Month, a cause the promotion is spearheading in June to help raise money and awareness for the LGBTQIA+ Center of Southern Nevada.
Molina said after the fight that he was bothered by fans critical of his choice and that he “thought people would be a little more open-minded.”
On The MMA Hour on Monday, Molina revealed some of the comments he received that crossed the line from criticism into sheer hatred.
“It was strange because I thought it was something so nonchalant, simple, minuscule,” Molina said. “Like, dude, check out my shorts, there’s rainbow coloring on it, it’s just cool that the UFC is doing this for Pride Month. Then I didn’t look at my phone for a couple of hours — I try not to be on my phone too much for fight week — I look at my phone and the comments are split. Actually, not really, the comments were pretty much all pretty hateful.

Gilbert Burns Wants Rematch with Khamzat Chimaev But Only If It's 5 Rounds Next Time - MMA Fighting
Gilbert Burns doesn’t see Khamzat Chimaev beating Kamaru Usman: ‘I think Kamaru is a level above this guy’
Gilbert Burns became the first fighter in the UFC to truly test Khamzat Chimaev when they battled it out for three rounds back in April at UFC 273.
On that night, Chimaev won a unanimous decision on the scorecards – but not without Burns dishing out a whole lot of punishment in a truly epic back-and-forth war. While Burns awaits the word on his next fight, Chimaev appears only one more win away from a potential title shot against reigning welterweight champion Kamaru Usman.
Burns knows Usman as well if not better than most anybody on the UFC roster – he trained with the champ for several years and fought him at UFC 258. That’s why he’s confident picking Usman to beat Chimaev in a prospective meeting.
“Kamaru, I think the IQ difference [over Khamzat] — IQ makes a lot of difference,” Burns told MMA Fighting. “I think Kamaru is very smart. He hits hard. Kamaru put me away. Three rounds, [Khamzat] couldn’t put me away. I think Kamaru does hit harder.
“I think Kamaru, the fight IQ with wrestling and striking is better than this guy. With the timing, the movement, with mixing things up, the feints, the angles, I think Kamaru is a level above this guy still.”
According to Burns, it’s the cerebral way that Usman approaches his fights that really makes a huge difference every time he competes. That’s a huge difference against somebody like Chimaev.
“I think Khamzat will be tough, but it’s nothing Kamaru hasn’t seen,” Burns said. “I stuffed one takedown, he took me down one time, but nothing [serious]. Kamaru’s IQ is different.”

Dustin Poirier: Charles Oliveira could have tried to lose more weight at UFC 274, ‘He wasn’t stumbling around
Regardless of the incident, Oliveira went on to do what he does best and that’s finish world-class fighters in incredible fashions. Needing just over three minutes and some wildly entertaining striking exchanges, Oliveira dropped Gaethje, followed him to the ground, and sank in an unforgiving rear-naked choke submission. The win extended Oliveira’s win streak to 11 straight.
A former contender at featherweight, Poirier never had issues of his own with weight but realized when the right time was to return to 155-pounds. Like Poirier, Oliveira also spent a brief period at 145-pounds before going on the current best stretch of his career. However, weight problems have been a part of his story to an extent.
UFC 274 marked the fifth time in Oliveira’s 42-fight career that he’s missed the weight limit — two of those coming at featherweight. In Poirier’s mind, he believes his former foe could have put in a bit more effort, all things considered.

Khamzat Chimaev responds to ‘high’ Nate Diaz, turns attention to Colby Covington
“You are funny, are you high? It seems like [you’ve] been smoking,” Chimaev stated.
Social media was buzzing after screenshots from an interview with UFC president Dana White showed potential matchups for upcoming cards. One of those bouts was on the UFC 276 board featuring Chimaev and Diaz, although those matchups being on the wall certainly don’t mean they are done, or even close to being done.
After his response to Diaz, Chimaev figured he should check two boxes off of the to-do list, following up with a callout of Colby Covington for a bout — although Covington’s current fighting future is unclear due to his ongoing legal battle with Jorge Masvidal after the latter allegedly assaulted Covington outside of a restaurant in Miami Beach, Fla.

Mariusz Pudzianowski: Michal Materla ‘has more to lose than me’ in KSW 70 main event
Mariusz Pudzianowski is arguably KSW’s most famous name, but he’s not feeling any pressure heading into one of the biggest fights of his career.
The legendary Polish strongman headlines KSW 70 this Saturday in Lodz, Poland, and standing opposite him will be a decorated athlete in his own right, former middleweight champion Michal Materla.
Materla will be going up to heavyweight to meet Pudzianowski, but given that he’s faced a considerably higher level of competition in his career than “Pudzian,” he’ll head into the marquee matchup as the favorite. That’s fine with Pudziankowski, who sees the opportunity as a win-win regardless of the outcome.
“Michal has more to lose than me,” Pudzianowski said on The MMA Hour. “Michal has to win and I only have to go there and have fun and I have to show a good fight and show people what I’m capable of. But Michal has to win this fight.”
Pudzianowski’s status with KSW is unquestioned as he was a key player during the promotion’s rise to prominence, first fighting at KSW 12 in December 2009. Expectations were sky high for the multiple-time World’s Strongest Man champion and he delivered with a 43-second knockout of Marcin Najman.

Paulo Costa believes he’s two wins away from UFC title shot
Paulo Costa wants another night in the cage with the UFC middleweight champion.
“Borrachinha” is set to re-enter the octagon at UFC 278 on Aug. 20, facing former middleweight champ Luke Rockhold, and he believes it’s one of two victories he needs in order to secure one more shot at the 185-pound championship.
Speaking on a Q&A session with fans on Marshall Inu YouTube channel on Thursday, Costa said he’s not done pursuing his dream after dropping back-to-back fights to Israel Adesanya and Marvin Vettori.
“I never give up to get the belt,” Costa said. “I did some mistakes, I lost the last two fights, so I need to win this one and look forward. But I believe two wins, I’ll be on line to fight for the belt again.”
Costa first challenged for the middleweight throne after winning five in a row in the UFC, including names like Yoel Romero and Uriah Hall, but he was finished by Adesanya in Abu Dhabi. “Borrachinha” came in too heavy for his clash with Vettori this past October, ultimately losing a five-round decision in a 205-pound contest.
