RAMADAN MAKAN GUIDE 🌙

As a gym rat (that’s you!), your primary goal while fasting in Ramadan is NOT to lose muscle mass. Being able to maintain alone is a feat. Go for calories, quality calories, lots of them.

1.DATES provide minerals like potassium, copper and manganese and are a source of fibre. Similar to dates, check out apricots, figs, raisins and prunes.

2.FRUITS. Just about anything will do. Personally we like bananas & dragonfruits.

3.WATER. Minimum 1.5 glasses at buka and sahur. And always carry a water bottle with you.

4.PROTEINS. Chicken breast and eggs are good, cheap and easy to prepare.

5.LIQUID PROTEINS. Shakes, smoothies. Full-cream milk also has calcium, iodine, B vitamins. So does yogurt.

6.CARBS. Don’t overdo it, but take them you must. Whole-grain breads (e.g. Rainbow) are good. Avoid white bread.

7.GO NUTS. They’re calorie-dense and they’re loaded with healthy fats.

What about sahur? Same rules as above. Just add slow-digesting proteins e.g. eggs or casein proteins
