On behalf of the Kuala Lumpur Sikh Sports and Recreation Club (KLSSRC), we extend our heartfelt appreciation to the Malaysia Singapore Sikhs Sports Council (MSSSC), the Pahang Sikh Cultural and Sports Association (PSCSA), all State Affiliates, officials, players, parents, sponsors and supporters who contributed to the resounding success of this year’s 73rd Gurdwara Cup & Sikh Festival of Sports held in Kuantan.
From the royal opening ceremony, graced by His Royal Highness Sultan of Pahang, to the proud conclusion, the event was a true celebration of our heritage, sportsmanship, and unity. Special thanks must also go to His Royal Highness, whose humility and gracious presence at the opening ceremony — along with participation in the golf tournament — gave this year’s Gurdwara Cup a royal touch of honour and pride.
In every competition, there will always be winners and those who came close — but the true victory lies in the unity and community spirit demonstrated by all involved, both on and off the field. It was heartening to witness moments of pride shared across generations — from parents and their children winning medals together in the veterans, seniors, and juniors events, to old friendships rekindled and new ones formed.
We are proud to say that the Sikh community in Malaysia is highly respected, and has over the decades produced many national-level sportsmen and sportswomen who have made our community proud. Today, we are equally encouraged to see new and promising talent emerging in both hockey and golf, proudly carrying our tradition of excellence into the future.
As with every major event, there will inevitably be differing opinions and feedback. Constructive criticism is welcome and essential for progress. However, it is regrettable that a few individuals — no longer in leadership roles due to their own past conduct — have chosen to engage in personal attacks and unwarranted negativity. We urge our community to rise above such divisiveness and instead focus on the overwhelming positivity, unity, and continued growth of the Gurdwara Cup, which has only become stronger year after year.
Let us move forward with humility, unity, and shared pride in what we’ve built together. To everyone who played a role — no matter how big or small — thank you. Your dedication made this tournament not just a success, but a powerful reminder of what we can achieve when we stand as one.
Till we meet again at the 74th Gurdwara Cup — may the bonds we’ve built and the spirit we’ve shared continue to inspire us all.
Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh.

The Malaysia Singapore Sikhs Sports Council (MSSSC) produced a spirited performance in their final Group B match, drawing 2–2 with PDRM. The team twice fought back from behind to equalise and ended the game with 10 players in a nail-biting finish. Both sides battled relentlessly for a place in the Quarter-Finals, creating an electrifying atmosphere on the pitch.
The tough Central Zone group proved to be a challenging test for MSSSC, as it featured some of the tournament’s strongest teams. Despite this, MSSSC’s debut in the Bardhan Cup was nothing short of remarkable, showcasing resilience and determination in every match. This marks MSSSC’s first-ever appearance in the Bardhan Cup, with the team having been formed less than two weeks before the start of the tournament.
MSSSC takes pride in being a multi-racial team, truly representing Malaysia’s diversity. The squad featured players from Sikh, Indian, Malay, Chinese, and Indian Muslim communities, united by their passion for the sport. Some of MSSSC’s affiliate players even travelled from as far as Penang and Ipoh to contribute to the team’s effort, reflecting the collective dedication and spirit of the MSSSC family.
In attendance to support the team were Patron of MSSSC, Dato’ Dr. Surinder Singh Cheema, President Baljit Singh, Vice President P. Jasbere Singh, and Malaysian football legend Datuk Santokh Singh. Despite finishing third in Group B, MSSSC can be proud of their overall campaign, recording one win, one draw, and one loss.
We extend our gratitude to the Management Team, Sarendar Singh, Amar Dhaliwal, Taranjit S Sandhu, and the Coaching Team under Head Coach G. Muthu and Pream Singh. Our deepest thanks also go to our sponsors: Malaysia Singapore Sikhs Sports Council (MSSSC), Kuala Lumpur Sikh Sports and Recreation Club (KLSSRC), Selangor SIKH Association, Perak Sikh Union, Kedah Sikh Union, Pahang Sikh Cultural & Sports Association, GRK Group, Smile Kuala Lumpur, and Malaysia Khalsa FA (MKFA).
A special note of appreciation to the Malaysian Indian Sports Council for inviting MSSSC to participate in this prestigious tournament. This historic milestone would not have been possible without the collective efforts of the officials, players, and supporters. We look forward to building on this performance and returning stronger in future competitions.
