Logistics is always a major factor for any kind of adventure, especially those that don't start and end right at your doorstep

We were lucky that we our adventure BEGAN from the doorstep of our friend's home in Canberra, but we definitely didn't want to cycle back there from the coast ( maybe if we had a week off work!)

Australia is still very much a car centric country especially out of the city centres. Buses and long distance trains still require you to pack up your bike (like when you fly with your bike). Not quite the carefree plan.

Thankful for the South Coast and ACT that seem to be getting on board with multimodal transport. We got a ride from Batemans Bay on the daily to Canberra. They could take our bikes without having to pack it up at just $10 more per bike. Just call ahead to remind them, the admin on the day missed the request! Luckily they still managed to fit our bikes in (see pics) and it was a smooth ride into Canberra CBD before a short pedal home.

Happy snaps from the morning of Day 2 when we woke up in Araluen to the morning of Day 3 as we said goodbye to the South Coast at sunrise.

Araluen Road on this day was just like all the gravel roads they use in the marketing when they sell you gravel bikes and gear. Just picture perfect and with rolling hills and snaking along the Deua River, passing by the prettiest farmhouses before spitting you out onto the outer edge of Moruya Town.

When your friend buys a new bike, and you have newish bikes too and invite you to go on an adventure, you say YES.

So much to say and share about out first overnight trip on our collective new(ish) gravel bikes. BUT first, some pretty snaps from Day 1 of our Canberra to the Coast bike ride.
