MAP Executive Committees first gathering with the newly appointed Sub-Committee members for the 2026–2029 term.

Over a good high-protein meal β€” fitting for a room full of powerlifting meatheads πŸ–πŸ’ͺ🏻 β€” the team had the opportunity to get acquainted, strengthen working relationships, and discuss the goals, initiatives, and plans that will guide the association in the years ahead.

As MAP continues its commitment to developing and growing the sport of powerlifting in Malaysia, this gathering marked an important first step in bringing together the individuals who will be working behind the scenes to serve our athletes, members, and community.

OFFICIAL STATEMENT

The Malaysian Association for Powerlifting (MAP) wishes to inform all members that the affiliation of the Sarawak Powerlifting Association (SPA) has been suspended until further notice following an internal review process.

Accordingly, the SPO 2026 Qualifier will no longer be recognised as a MAP-sanctioned event or National Qualifier.

MAP is currently working towards identifying a replacement National Qualifier for the month of August 2026. Once finalised, an official announcement will be communicated to all members via email and MAP’s official social media channels in the coming weeks.

We understand that this development may be difficult for current SPA members and athletes. In view of this, SPA members who do not currently hold a valid 2026 MAP membership may email MAP with proof of their SPA membership, and MAP will facilitate the conversion to a complimentary 2026 MAP membership.

This decision was not taken lightly. MAP remains committed to maintaining the integrity, governance standards, and long-term development of the association and the sport for the benefit of all members.

We also strongly urge all members to refrain from participating in or spreading rumors, speculation, misinformation, or fabricated statements regarding this matter. Any conduct found to be in violation of the MAP Code of Conduct may be subject to disciplinary action.

Should you have any inquiries, please contact MAP directly through our official communication channels.

We thank all members, athletes, officials, and supporters for their continued trust, cooperation, and support.
