The Dance Stage
Malaysia's elite ballet school with a versatile program, inspiring teachers and excellent facilities
The Dance Stage was founded by Ms Lovell Chia with a primary aim to raise the quality of ballet education in Malaysia. The focus of the school’s ballet program is to give an all-rounded ballet education to little dancers. Little dancers who are enrolled in our program will be constantly inspired. As a result, we have dancers who are confident, creative, intelligent, technically-superior and musically- strong.
Here's our second episode of Tips with TDS that features our Bloomsvale Principal Ms Claire, and one of our elite team soloists Jo Wen where they will be showing you how to improve your Jazz Pirouettes through some strengthening exercises.
1. Preparing for a Strong Releve - Training the sharpness and strength that you use to push off the floor will ensure stability during turns. Remember to repeat the exercise on both sides to be balanced !
2. Arm Alignment - Engages the upper and lower arm muscles, allowing for sharper and more precise arms when preparing for your pirouettes. Keep in mind that the placement of your fists should be in front of your sternum and only the lower arm should move during this exercise 💪
3. Spotting - Emphasises on the use of your head to make a turn, reducing dizziness after continuous turns. Spotting also helps to loosen your neck muscles, increasing flexibility while helping you make controlled turns. Be sure to keep your core engaged while spotting 🙂↕️

On the last day of Chinese New Year, here's a small showcase from our inspiring Adult Ballet students to wrap up the festive season!
Our very first episode of Tips with TDS that our teachers would like to share with you ! This video features our principal Ms Lovell, and one of our elite team soloists Sylvia where they will be showing you how to improve your Port de Bras by doing neck and upper body exercises.
1. Neck Stretches - Improves the flexibility of your neck and head, allowing for more presentation whilst performing your Port de Bras as well as other exercises or dances. Remember to hold each stretch for around 20 seconds for the maximum benefit !
2. Upper Back Lifts - Engages the upper back muscles, increasing the strength and flexibility of your back as well as your legs which helps enhance the smoothness and the quality of all movements. Take note to engage your legs and keep your elbows up to train all the right muscles 🙂↕️
3. Upper Back Backbends - Emphasises on using the upper back to backbend, reducing strain on the lower back and adding more quality to your Port de Bras by increasing the mobility of the upper back allowing for further extension of arm lines. Be sure to keep your shoulders and hips square, and keeping the pelvic straight to correctly execute this exercise 😌
