Strategic Alliance: Malaysia Weiqi Association & Mr. Lee Mun Kit

Recently, the Malaysia Weiqi Association and Mr. Lee Mun Kit, President of the Malaysia Weiqi Sport Association, officially launched a deep strategic cooperation. This partnership consolidates industry resources to scale the national Weiqi movement.

A 15-year veteran, Mr. Lee has conducted over 100 campus lectures across KL and Selangor, significantly boosting the player population and building a solid grassroots foundation for the sport.

Driven by "education as the base and competition as the master," Mr. Lee has led flagship events: the Malaysia Primary and Secondary Inter-Schools Weiqi League, the Confucius Weiqi Tournament, the Central i-City International Weiqi Tournament, and the Malaysia Pair Go Tournament. These platforms foster elite talent through competitive exchange.

In 2022, Mr. Lee founded the State Weiqi Athlete System, bridging interest-based learning and professional play. This standardized framework creates a clear pathway and sustainable talent pipeline for young athletes.

This cooperation focuses on local cultivation to popularize Weiqi culture and elevate standards. We believe Weiqi will shine across Southeast Asia, writing a new legend for Malaysia.

Kuala Lumpur, March 1 — The Malaysia State Weiqi (Go) League officially begins today.

This is not just the start of a tournament, but the result of long hours of training, strong support from parents, and dedicated guidance from coaches.

From building solid fundamentals to learning from losses, reaching the state team stage has not been easy.

Today, our league campaign begins. Through competition, we grow. Through wins and losses, we build discipline and responsibility.

We look forward to seeing our state athletes play with composure, read the board well, and make brave decisions at key moments. Together, we aim to raise the standard of Weiqi in Malaysia.

Today marks not only the start of competition, but the start of greater responsibility — and a step closer to our dreams.
