The Sarawak cricketer has earned a place at the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, after helping Malaysia's women's team secure qualification for the continental showpiece.

Having already represented the country at the SEA Games and ACC Women's Premier Cup, Dania will now have the opportunity to compete against some of Asia's strongest cricketing nations.

Sarawak Secure Premier Cup Status After Historic Campaign

The Sarawak men’s cricket team capped off a remarkable campaign in the MCA Men’s 50 Overs Inter-State Premier Cup 2026 by finishing 4th overall — a result that guarantees their place in next year’s Premier Cup competition.

What makes the achievement even more impressive is that this was Sarawak’s first-ever appearance in the Premier Cup after earning promotion just last month by emerging as champions of the Challenge Cup tournament.

Despite stepping into the top-tier competition as newcomers, Sarawak showed resilience, fighting spirit, and rapid development throughout the month-long campaign. Competing against some of the country’s strongest state sides, Sarawak recorded four victories and one no-result from ten matches to finish ahead of Selangor and Kelantan in the standings.

The team’s journey featured several standout performances from both experienced players and rising talents, proving that Sarawak can compete consistently at the highest domestic level. Their ability to secure crucial wins throughout the tournament ultimately ensured survival and qualification for the 2027 Premier Cup season.

Sarawak’s campaign also demonstrated tremendous endurance, with the squad playing 17 matches in just 30 days across both the Challenge Cup and Premier Cup competitions — an intense schedule that tested the players physically and mentally.

Although Sarawak fell short in the 3rd & 4th placing playoff against Kuala Lumpur after the match was abandoned, the overall campaign will be remembered as a historic milestone for cricket development in the state.

From Challenge Cup champions to successfully retaining Premier Cup status within the span of a month, Team Sarawak has announced itself as a rising force in Malaysian cricket.

The achievement reflects the hard work of the players, coaching staff, management, and supporters who stood behind the team throughout an unforgettable season.
