From Stage Prep to a Hospital Bed and My Chinese New Year I Never Expected
Mid January, I officially started my conditioning prep for this year’s Classic Physique competition.
After 1 year 6 months of building my physique, everything was aligned for May.
Then life had other plans.
4 days before Chinese New Year, I was admitted to the hospital with dengue.
Platelets dropping. Liver enzymes spiked to 330.
During hospitalization, persistent bloating led to another discovery gallstones.
Instead of celebrating Chinese New Year with my family, I was celebrating it in a hospital bed.
Within weeks:
– 10kg lost
– Muscle breakdown
– Prep paused
– Plans disrupted
After waiting for my platelets to stabilize, I was discharged briefly… only to be admitted again for gallstone surgery.
At first, I felt demotivated.
Frustrated.
Lost.
1 year 6 months of effort felt like it vanished overnight.
But what can we do, right?
Sometimes setbacks are not punishment but redirection.
This forced break allowed me to slow down.
To spend real time with my family.
To step away from the bodybuilder lifestyle for a moment.
And honestly… it felt good.
This is not the end.
It’s just part of the journey.
Health first. Family always.
I will recover.
I will rebuild.
And I will come back even stronger.
The stage isn’t going anywhere.

2nd posing session with Jay (his first official exposure to classic physique posing).
He came in with zero posing background, but adapted surprisingly well within the session.
The main area to improve now is breathing control and stamina—especially the ability to hold poses calmly without rushing. We’ll work on the short inhale, long exhale technique so he can stay relaxed and stable in each pose.
Posing isn’t about hitting poses just for the sake of posing, or copying your bodybuilding idols.
Everyone has a different structure, so posing must be customized to highlight strengths and hide weaknesses.
If you’re just copying poses from social media without proper practice and understanding, you’re doing it wrong

I’m not asking you to go from 0% to 100%, that’s unrealistic and unnecessary.
One better food choice at a dinner
One planned training session instead of skipping
One habit done consistently, even when life is messy
If you’re willing to start from 1%, DM me now.

This isn’t really about timing or any festival .
There will always be meetings, dinners, drinking, events even after Chinese New Year. If we keep waiting for a “quiet period,” it honestly never comes.

Decades without a belt because most hurt my hips.
Today I finally tried a lever belt from .malaysia, after meeting the owner. Solid conversation, solid product.
Premium feel , the kind you’d expect from an IPF-level belt, but at Shopee price point.
If you know, you know.
PRs broken on a deficit.
Not paid post.
Just real feedback.

7kg dropped in 3 months by eating MORE, doing LESS cardio.
This is Winnie’s progress.
And no, it didn’t happen by starving, overdoing cardio, or suffering.
Compared to last time, the biggest difference is consistency + a regulated metabolism.
✔️ Eating more (not under-fueling)
✔️ Less cardio, but better ex*****on
✔️ Focus on recovery, sleep & daily movement
✔️ Training with intent, not punishment
When the foundation is right, the body responds without extremes.
That’s why this time the progress is steady, sustainable, and repeatable.
Fat loss isn’t about doing more
it’s about doing the right things, consistently.
Proud of this one 👏🔥
