MALAYSIA TOURING CAR CHAMPIONSHIP 2026: Race 2 saw Team Axle Sports start at the pack of the pack in the MT2 V class. A stellar drive by put us up in P2 before handing over driver duties to .

Oil on the track resulted in a full course yellow and a safety car – closing the gap Raja had built, and subsequent issues with power steering forced us out of the podium positions.

The 18 Suzuki Swift finished in P5 – with Gen taking home the Women’s Cup in Race 2.

It was live and learn debut for in the inaugural round of the Porsche in Shanghai. He qualified in pole for both races – but an issue at the start of the first race resulted in no drive off the line, and Naquib was hit by another driver.

Round 1 on Saturday was officially abandoned with 50% championship points awarded based on the Official Qualifying classification.

Sadly, due to damage, Naquib could not race in Round 2 on Sunday. “The team worked very hard to try and get us back on the grid for Round 2. I’ll just have to focus on what needs to be done at the next round in Zhuhai” he said.

And finally, our thoughts are with Francis Tjia and we wish him a speedy recovery.

About Axle Motorsport

Alex Yoong has the distinction of being Malaysia's only driver to have raced in the Formula 1 World Championship.

His racing career started in 1992 at the age of 16. Since this young start, Alex has gone on to successful secure many wins and podiums through races held in Malaysia, Asia, Europe and the rest of the world. He has the distinction of winning the first single seater race held in China in 1994 just before he clinched the Malaysian Formula Asia Championship.

After several years of racing in Europe and Japan, Alex entered the FIA Formula One World Championship with the Minardi F1 Team for the last three races of the 2001 season. He subsequently went on to do the entire season in 2002. His best result was at the Australian GP in Melbourne where he finished 7th.

From 2006 to 2008 he was A1 Team Malaysia's lead driver in A1GP where he has won 4 races, 4 pole positions, 4 fastest laps and several podiums. He also competed in the most famous race of all, the Lemans 24 hours, where he won rookie of the year in 2006. Throughout his 26 years of racing, Alex has competed all over the world covering all continents with the exception of Antarctica. He was the Audi R8 LMS Cup Champion from 2014 to 2016, a notable distinction. A
