The last training I conducted was in early March 2024. Currently busy with some project as corporate training takes a break.

Meanwhile, my teaching with the Myanmar children continues as i change the way i conduct the classes.

To make it more engaging and fun, i now sit them in groups and they work together to collect points for prizes at the end of the year 🥰

Last Monday I went to HRDCorp’s two day Bootcamp for trainers and training providers.

Good to meet up with friends and making new ones.

We were well fed and the sessions were fantastic!

Last December, there was a request from Trisya my Head of Sales to train her team on presentation skills, but I was unable to find a suitable time to do it with them. And I was leaving the company end of Feb.

Right before CNY, we finally found a day that we could run the training, and it was my last day at work last Friday 🤣

We started with my PowerPoint presentation that included a few videos to show examples of good and poor presentations.

The 2nd part was an opportunity for everyone to do a short presentation of the topic of their choice.

My encouragement to them was to continue practising and never be embarrassed to ask for feedback from one another.

Gonna miss this bunch of people. 😁

Last week was my first trip to Batu Pahat. It was a team building + leadership training for Line Clear Express’ Southern hub & depot managers.

Apart from the usual fun, we tackled some serious matters on staff discipline and how they can manage their team better.

I built the training on the One Minute Manager book, which was a very useful for me when I started as a jr manager.

I trust that they are better equipped to lead now 😄

Throwback Thursday

Last month we were in Melaka to train the sales team from Nestle Nutrition.

First time facilitating more than 50 participants. I had fun but when I woke up the next day, I was still mentally exhausted😜

Last month I had the opportunity to assist in a 2-day key account management training at Merck Malaysia, conducted by Fauziah of Medtecque.

Thoroughly enjoyed interacting with the trainees- brought back good memories of my time in the pharmaceutical & medical supplier industries.

Over the weekend, I lead a team building training session with Line Clear Express & Logistics Sdn Bhd's sales department. What made it special was that we conducted the session in a gym!

My main focus for the day was to help the team build stronger connections with each other and learn how to manage stress at work.

It was truly satisfying to see them enjoy themselves and collaborate on the small projects I assigned to them. 😊

In my upbringing within a traditional family, the concept of receiving apologies from my elders was practically nonexistent. Even when they were clearly at fault, the most I could hope for was a half-hearted, faint "sorry." This had a profound impact on my personal development. While I had no qualms about apologising to those in positions of authority, I struggled when it came to apologising to my peers or subordinates at work.

Several years ago, I had the privilege of witnessing a senior manager extend a apology to one of his subordinates. This experience provided me with some valuable insights:

1. A sincere apology is a testament to the apologiser's strength. The manager didn't allow his ego to dictate his actions.
2. A sincere apology underscores the integrity of the apologiser. There was no attempt to shift blame onto someone else; the manager took full responsibility for his mistake.
3. A sincere apology has the power to strengthen relationships. I distinctly remember that the meeting concluded with a more solid bond founded on trust.

On that day, my respect for the manager reached new heights. It opened my eyes to a fresh perspective – "it is alright okay make mistakes, just make sure you apologise."

Although I have made progress in apologising for my mistakes, I am still in the process of learning and growing in this regard. I hope to eventually overcome the pride within me and that whenever I am at fault, I would promptly utter the words, "I am sorry."

"I WANT TO TEACH YOU HOW TO MAKE AN ORIGAMI 💖 "

So last week, I taught my Klang Valley hub and depot managers how to make an origami heart .

Of course it was not merely an creative art activity. I demonstrated two methods of teaching to underscore the importance of EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION, the topic of my training.

Communication within an organisation goes beyond emails or face-to-face discussions. Just as a simple piece of paper could be transformed into a beautiful origami heart when the right method was adopted, so too can our team achieve remarkable results when we communicate clearly and concisely.
