The Pancake Pose or Upavistha Konasana Uttanasana.
Here are some of its key advantages of this pose:

1. Improves Flexibility
Stretches the inner thighs, hamstrings, and lower back, increasing overall flexibility. Helps with hip mobility, which is essential for deep squats, dance, and martial arts.
2. Strengthens the Core & Back
Engages the core muscles to maintain balance and control in the fold. Strengthens the lower back, reducing the risk of injury and improving posture.
3. Enhances Hip Mobility
Opens up the hip joints, reducing stiffness and improving range of motion. Beneficial for athletes and yogis who require deep hip flexibility (e.g., in splits or lotus pose).
4. Aids in Relaxation & Stress Relief
Encourages deep breathing, which activates the parasympathetic nervous system (relaxation response).

We usually start the class with lateral breathing exercises and that was the first on my learning list.
