โ€œFor Tagore, dance was never merely about movement. It was about freedom: the freedom of the body to express, the mind to imagine and the individual to connect with others. His vision of dance was not confined to technique; it was deeply connected to education, human development and cultural exchange. That is perhaps why his artistic philosophy continues to resonate so strongly today.โ€

At Mokshya, dance is not merely about learning movements or preparing for performances. It is about creating a space where individuals feel welcomed, supported, and free to express themselves. In our small classrooms, friendships are formed, confidence is nurtured, laughter is shared, and a sense of belonging quietly takes root.

โ€ฆ and in this presentation we celebrate that camaraderie ๐ŸŒท

When we speak of Rabindranath Tagore, we often speak of Bengal. But Tagoreโ€™s Bengal was never confined to geographical borders. His travels across Southeast Asia opened another dimension of his vision:
one where India and Southeast Asia were connected through centuries of cultural exchange. Through literature, music, dance, education and ideas, Tagore saw Asia not as separate cultures, but as a living conversation between civilisations. ๐ŸŒท

We are grateful to have the opportunity to welcome the very graceful Ms. Priyadarshini Sanyal, Kathak teacher at NSCB Indian Cultural Centre, Kuala Lumpur.

Her sinuous movements brough a quiet intensity and elegance to the space.

Historically, Kathak evolved as a storytelling tradition, especially devotional poetry, with dancers using movement, rhythm, gesture and expression to bring these narratives to life.
