SEREMBAN: A Singaporean hiker suffered a fractured right arm in a fall while descending Gunung Datuk in Rembau near here this morning. He is believed to have fallen at a rocky area near the summit staircase & broke his arm.

🧑‍🚒Kota fire and rescue station chief Asnizam Kamberon said the victim, aged 52, was among 11 hikers taking part in a climb to the summit of Gunung Datuk, accompanied by two guides.

⛑️He said the rescue team hiked to the victim’s location, about 2km from the foot of the mountain, and brought him down on a stretcher.

⛰️Gunung Datuk, which rises to a height of about 885m (2,900ft), has a peak defined by a cluster of massive granite boulders. Hikers must climb a series of near-vertical steel ladders anchored directly into the rock.

Local folklore say a large depression on one of the highest boulders bears the footprint of the legendary Malay warrior Hang Tuah, who was reputed to be able to leap from mountain to mountain.

😭Atlet ragbi Sukma Pulau Pinang meninggal dunia selepas rebah di padang.

🏉KULIM – Seorang pemain ragbi Sukan Malaysia (Sukma) Pulau Pinang meninggal dunia selepas rebah ketika menjalani sesi latihan di Padang Bola Batalion 2 Pasukan Gerakan Am (PGA), di sini semalam.

👮🏼‍♀️Timbalan Ketua Polis Daerah Kulim, Tengku Mohd. Faisal Tengku Yeng berkata, mangsa, Muhammad Adam Putra Syahril, 21, disahkan meninggal dunia selepas dibawa ke Hospital Kulim untuk menerima rawatan kecemasan.
Beliau berkata, kejadian kira-kira pukul 5.30 petang itu berlaku ketika mangsa yang merupakan penuntut sebuah institusi pengajian tinggi di Arau, Perlis sedang menjalani latihan ragbi bersama pasukannya.

“Ibu mangsa dimaklumkan jurulatih ragbi bahawa anaknya rebah dan tidak sedarkan diri ketika latihan. Mangsa diberi bantuan awal, namun tidak menunjukkan sebarang tindak balas sebelum dikejarkan ke Hospital Kulim dengan ambulans untuk rawatan lanjut,” katanya di sini hari ini.
🏥👩‍⚕️Menurutnya, pegawai perubatan di unit kecemasan hospital mengesahkan mangsa meninggal dunia dan difahamkan sedang menjalani latihan praktikal di daerah itu selain aktif sebagai pemain ragbi Sukma Pulau Pinang.
“Hasil siasatan awal mendapati mangsa tidak mempunyai sebarang sejarah penyakit,” ujarnya.

🔬Tambahnya, bedah siasat akan dijalankan di Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah di Alor Setar bagi mengenal pasti punca sebenar kematian dan kes diklasifikasikan sebagai mati mengejut.

Puerto Rican climber Nicole Santiago has made history by becoming the first woman from Puerto Rico to summit Mount Everest as part of her Seven Summits project.

Santiago reached the 8,848.86-meter peak on May 20, 2026, during one of the busiest climbing windows of the season. Her ascent was completed under a 1:1 guided expedition led by Nepali guide Abiral Rai, who also marked his third successful Everest summit this season.

According to Rai, Santiago’s achievement makes her the first woman from Puerto Rico to stand atop the world’s highest mountain, marking a major milestone in her ongoing Seven Summits quest.
