The Malaysia Women Scuba Divers Association (WASEM) registered ROS number (PPM-029-10-19042019) was established in 2019 to empower and support women in the scuba diving industry. The association aims to create a strong network of female divers, providing education, training, and career opportunities in recreational and professional diving. WASEM advocates for women’s participation in marine conservation, diving safety, and leadership roles within the industry. The association also organizes dive trips, training programs, and awareness campaigns to promote scuba diving among women of all backgrounds.

WASEM President Takes the Global Stage at the Annual Women Economic Forum & G100 Global Meet 2026.

The Malaysia Women Scuba Divers Association (WASEM) proudly congratulates our President, Pn. Hjh Mastura Hj Abd Manap, on being selected as one of more than 50 international speakers at the Annual Women Economic Forum (WEF) & G100 Global Meet 2026, taking place from 14–17 October 2026 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Pn. Mastura will speak in Parallel Track 10: “Cross-Border Trade and Investment Opportunities”, sharing perspectives drawn from her entrepreneurial and industry leadership journey as CEO of Scubatex Holding Berhad and her experience in developing businesses across international markets.

Her participation on this global platform represents another meaningful milestone, not only in her personal leadership journey, but also for WASEM as we continue to champion women’s leadership, economic empowerment, entrepreneurship and greater participation of women in the sport, tourism and aquatic industries.

WASEM President Contributes as Trainer for Sustainable Tourism Ambassador Certification at FRIM

The Malaysia Women Scuba Divers Association (WASEM) is proud to highlight the contribution of our President, Pn. Hjh Mastura Hj Abd Manap, as one of the trainers for the Sayangi Malaysia Sustainable Tourism Ambassador Certification Programme, held at the Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) on 7 September 2026.

As a certified Sustainable Tourism Trainer, Pn. Mastura was part of the training team supporting the programme’s practical training and competency development sessions.

Her role focused on facilitating participants in translating the C.H.E.C.K. Framework — Culture, Heritage, Environment, Community and Knowledge — from sustainability principles into practical tourism applications. During the hands-on sessions, she guided participants through group discussions, practical exercises and presentations, helping them identify how sustainable tourism practices can be incorporated into their roles and visitor engagement at FRIM.

The programme brought together 75 FRIM nature guides and personnel, strengthening their capacity to become Sustainable Tourism Ambassadors who can promote responsible tourism practices through their daily interaction with visitors.

Organised by FRIM’s Social Forestry Programme (SFP) in collaboration with UNDP Malaysia, Singapore & Brunei Darussalam and the Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC), the programme was also supported by trainers and industry champions from IFSAT, HELP University and MAHTEC.

For WASEM, Pn. Mastura’s contribution reflects our commitment to developing leadership that goes beyond advocacy — sharing industry knowledge, building capacity and turning sustainability principles into action.

The Malaysia Women Scuba Divers Association (WASEM) is honoured to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with WWF-Malaysia on 23rd July 2026, marking another significant milestone in WASEM's journey towards advancing marine conservation, sustainable aquatic tourism, and community empowerment.

The MoU was signed by Pn Hjh Mastura Abd Manap, President of WASEM, and Ms Sophia Lim, Chief Executive Officer of WWF-Malaysia, in the presence of Dr Wirdati Mohd. Radzi, WASEM Advisor, and Ms Tay Mooi Geok, Senior Director of Partnerships, WWF-Malaysia.
A key highlight of the ceremony was the official launch of the Save Our Corals Affinity Fundraising Programme, officiated by Ms Sophia Lim, reinforcing our shared commitment to protecting Malaysia's precious coral reef ecosystems through collaborative action, conservation awareness, and community participation.

The ceremony was further strengthened by the presence of WASEM's strategic ocean partner, Ombak Ocean Warrior, together with the Ms Jenny Lee, President of INTERNATIONAL FEDERATION OF SPORTS AQUATIC TOURISM, reflecting a united commitment among industry leaders to drive meaningful and sustainable impact for our oceans.
This strategic partnership represents more than the signing of an agreement, it signifies a shared vision to inspire greater environmental stewardship, empower communities, and create lasting positive change for future generations.
