Tofo is a stunning eight kilometer stretch of sandy beach located on the southern coast of Mozambique in the Indian Ocean. Tofo has beautiful grassy dunes, rolling surf, year-round sunshine and great places to stay, eat and play. There is plenty to do here. You can sit back and enjoy an easy day relaxing on the beach, or spend your time here scuba diving (some of the best diving in the world), surfing the waves in Tofinho, horse riding the trails through the dunes and villages or deep sea fishing.

There are great bars and restaurants where you can while away your day sipping a 2M (the local beer) or a cocktail, and sampling the local prawns and other delicious seafood. You could also take a trip into Inhambane, our historic local town and the second oldest town in Mozambique to enjoy the local market or a dhow ride in the harbour. There are two beaches in the area, Tofo Beach, which is the main beach, and Tofinho (or little Tofo) which is a bit quieter. Tofo Beach is a great swimming beach and also has the boat launch area for the diving and fishing charters. It has most of the bars and restaurants, the small market and shop are located there and you can buy fish and crafts at the beach front. Most of the accommodation in Tofo is situated right on the beach front. Tofinho Beach is great for surfing and fly fishing. The accommodation is situated on the top of the dune so everywhere has amazing views of the ocean - great for watching the whales, and the dolphins playing in the surf.

Built in 1969 this is the oldest and only hotel in Tofo! It has been extensively re-furbished and re-opened in late 2013. This is a friendly, bright and airy, small boutique hotel, offering 13 rooms, and a conference centre that can accommodate 70 people. Located right on the beach front, with the restaurant on the large deck overlooking the Indian Ocean. There is a fully licensed bar and restaurant and also a fantastic sushi bar. All the rooms are en-suite with air conditioning. The deluxe double and suites are bigger than the standard rooms. They have DSTV, a bath as well as a shower and private veranda’s with ocean view. The hotel is quite lively on Friday evenings attracting non guests as they host the best live music in town.

Take a beach buggy tour under the coconuts around the local villages or a romantic sail boat ride in a traditional Dhow. NORDINS LODGE
These rustic two people reed huts are quite basic but literally on the beach so a great location. They have double or twin beds and each have a toilet and shower. Centrally located about 2 minutes from the centre of Tofo. They also have some double bungalows. They don’t offer breakfast but there is a braai you can use.

PARADISE DUNES
There are 6 rustic timber and reed houses nestled up high in the dunes so you need to go up quite a few steps to get here!. The kitchen is fully equipped and all have a veranda with an ocean view. They have 2, 3 and 4 bedroom houses and are about a 5 minute walk from Tofo’s main beach. Not suitable for the elderly or young children due the to the steps.

VANILLA VIEW
Designed in a rustic chic way, this beautiful property has views overlooking the mangroves. Hidden away a piece of paradise fully equipped for self-catering with a superbly furnished kitchen. There are 3 bedrooms. The main one with his and hers open showers and sunken bath. There is a boma, infinity pool, with outside seating. This is a romatic, stylish house which feels very secluded but is only a 5 minute drive to the beach. Would suit couples, friends, groups.
