A Selecção Nacional de Futebol de Moçambique 🇲🇿, vai conhecer os seus adversários na fase de Grupos do Campeonato Africano das Nações (CAN) Marrocos 🇲🇦 a 27 de Janeiro de 2025, segundo definiu a entidade que rege a “modalidade rainha” no continente (CAF), reunida na Segunda-feira (16 de Dezembro) em Marrakech.

A cerimônia do sorteio do CAN vai se realizar na cidade de Rabat, no Reino do Marrocos 🇲🇦, país anfitrião. Quanto ao cronograma, o maior evento futebolístico do continente “Berço da Humanidade” arranca a 21 de Dezembro de 2025 e termina a 18 de Janeiro do ano seguinte.

O Comitê Executivo da CAF também revelou os potes para o sorteio. O primeiro pote é composto pelas Selecções mais cotadas no ranking da Federação Internacional de Futebol Associado (FIFA), nomeadamente: Argélia 🇩🇿, Marrocos 🇲🇦 (país-sede), Costa do Marfim 🇨🇮, Senegal 🇸🇳, Egipto 🇪🇬 e Nigéria 🇳🇬.

O Pote dois é composto por seleções formidáveis, incluindo Tunísia 🇹🇳, Camarões 🇨🇲, Burkina Faso 🇧🇫, República Democrática do Congo 🇨🇩, Mali 🇲🇱 e África do Sul 🇿🇦. No terceiro pote, encontramos Gabão 🇬🇦, Angola 🇦🇴, Zâmbia 🇿🇲, Uganda 🇺🇬, Guiné Equatorial 🇬🇶 e Benim 🇧🇯. Por fim, o Pote quatro é completado por Botswana 🇧🇼, Moçambique 🇲🇿, Sudão 🇸🇩, Zimbabwe 🇿🇼, Ilhas Comores 🇰🇲 e Tanzânia 🇹🇿.

À margem da reunião, o Presidente da Confederação Africana de Futebol, Patrice Motsepe, também realizou um encontro com os representantes das 54 federações-membro. O dirigente enfatizou o desenvolvimento do Futebol na África por meio do fortalecimento de parcerias com governos, FIFA, outras confederações continentais e o sector privado.

After being promoted to the senior team at Kaizer Chiefs in January 2023, Wandile Duba has not yet fully shown the potential he displayed in the DStv Diski Challenge (DDC).

So far, he has made 17 appearances and scored just one goal, compared to his Pirates counterpart who has already notched 50 appearances with nine goals, ten assists, and three trophies to his name.

Mofokeng, at just 19 years old, has also scored in two successive finals, further highlighting the contrasting paths between the two rising stars.

Duba offered a candid assessment of the different journeys he and Mofokeng have experienced.

“The difference between us is that I was playing in a struggling team while he was at a well-structured club with less pressure,” Duba explained as reported by Farpost.

“Pirates are doing well, so everything he does looks good. I’ve also had to deal with many coaching changes, whereas he’s had stability with one coach.”

He also spoke about the impact that coach Nasreddine Nabi has had on him, “Coach Nabi has really changed my mentality and is helping me grow as a player.”

“I never thought I could play on the wing, but he saw my speed and intelligence and believed I could do it. I’m happy to play wherever the coach needs me.”

Wandile Duba’s honest reflection on his journey highlights his challenges, but also his determination to rise above them.

While comparing himself to Relebohile Mofokeng, the attacker recognizes that the difference in their paths lies in the contrasting circumstances of their respective teams.

Orlando Pirates, with consistent coaching and a strong structure, provided Mofokeng the stability to thrive.

The loss of his mother has fuelled his determination, and with Nabi's guidance, he is focused on reaching the heights that have been expected of him since his promotion.

His journey is far from over, and the support he receives at this critical stage could determine whether he finally steps into the limelight, just like his counterpart Mofokeng.
