NHRSA SHOOTERS RISE TO THE CHALLENGE IN OMAHEKE
The Namibian Hunting Rifle Shooting Association (NHRSA) hosted its latest shooting event on 14 and 15 August 2026 at Farm Yakandandah in the Omaheke District, where shooters once again gathered for two days of competitive veld shooting across the .223, Open and .22LR classes.
The NHRSA was very warmly hosted by Mr Walter and Mrs Charmaine Kinnear and family, who opened their doors to competitors with fantastic accommodation and true Namibian farm hospitality at Farm Kainas. Their generosity and warm welcome contributed greatly to what was a thoroughly enjoyable shooting weekend.
Over the two days, competitors were tested on a variety of challenging ranges that demanded concentration, sound judgement and consistent shooting. The difficult courses produced an exciting mix of winners across the different age groups and divisions.
The ladies once again came out in force, not only filling the respective Ladies divisions but also making their presence felt throughout the broader classifications. It was particularly encouraging to see younger shooters continuing to perform strongly, with juniors and Penkoppe taking their places among the weekend's top competitors.

The weekend once again demonstrated the depth of talent currently competing within NHRSA. Walter Kinnear enjoyed an outstanding home-ground performance, taking victory in the Open Gold Class as well as the Men's and Overall titles in both the Open and .22LR classes.
Francois Marais Snr delivered another excellent performance, winning the .223 Senior division before going on to claim the overall .223 title, while Vincent Maresch continued his impressive form by winning the Junior U18 division in all three disciplines.
The younger generation also made its mark, with Anja-Mari van der Merwe winning the Open Silver Class in addition to the Penkoppe U13 division, while the strong participation and results from the ladies again underlined their growing presence within competitive hunting rifle shooting in Namibia.
NHRSA extends its sincere appreciation to everyone involved in making the weekend possible, with special thanks to Walter and Zandrea Kinnear for building our ranges, and their family for their hospitality, as well as to everyone else who assisted with the preparation and running of the ranges.
The Association now looks forward to its next event, which will take place on 4 and 5 September 2026 at Otjiwa Lodge, outside Otjiwarongo.
All interested new shooters as well as our dedicated existing competitors are warmly invited to join us for another great weekend of shooting and camaraderie.
Participants requiring accommodation are requested to contact Otjiwa Lodge directly to make their accommodation arrangements.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back.
See you on the firing line!
