Deep Yellow awards N$393m Tumas construction contracts to Namibian firms

Australian uranium developer Deep Yellow Limited has awarded civil and concrete construction contracts worth approximately N$393 million (A$34 million) to two Namibian companies for its flagship Tumas Uranium Project, as it advances towards a final investment decision (FID) in the fourth quarter of 2026.

The contracts were awarded following a competitive tender process to Namibia Construction (Pty) Ltd and Nexus Building and Civils Contractors (Pty) Ltd, both 100% Namibian-owned companies.

Namibia Construction secured the larger contract, valued at approximately N$214 million (A$18.5 million), covering reinforced concrete works for the beneficiation, leach feed thickening and tailings transfer facilities.

The contract also includes the fabrication and installation of precast concrete elements and the construction of a reinforced earth retaining wall supporting the run-of-mine stockpile.

A NEW CHAPTER FOR NEXUS GROUP
Today marks a defining moment in the Nexus story.

The ALS Group of Namibia has completed a transaction to acquire a strategic shareholding in Nexus Group Holdings, forming a partnership between two businesses built on the same foundations: hard work, integrity, operational excellence, and a long-term commitment to the communities where we operate.

About Nexus:
For more than 48 years, Nexus has helped build Namibia. From roads, bridges and commercial and industrial buildings to hospitals, schools, water infrastructure, housing developments and mining operations, we have delivered projects across all 14 regions of the country.

Today, more than 750 Namibians are part of the Nexus family, working through three specialised business units: Building and Civils, Nexus Ino Mining and Nexus Plant Hire.

About ALS:
Founded in 1989, ALS has grown into one of Southern Africa's leading contracting groups. Its operations span contract mining, open-pit mining, plant hire, civil and building construction, haul roads, property development and agriculture.

ALS operates one of the region's most extensive earthmoving fleets, backed by decades of experience delivering large-scale hard-rock and open-pit mining projects. ALS Namibia was established to bring this capability to the Namibian market.

Why This Partnership Matters:
This partnership is a natural strategic fit.

ALS brings capital, fleet capacity, technical capability and extensive mining expertise. Nexus brings a respected Namibian brand, an experienced workforce, established infrastructure and a proven track record of delivering complex projects.

Together, we will invest in our people, expand our fleet, strengthen our capabilities and pursue growth across all sectors in which our businesses operate—including contract mining, bulk earthmoving, civil infrastructure, road construction, building, plant hire and property development.

Namibia's mining and infrastructure pipeline offers significant opportunities. Together, we intend to compete for the country's largest and most complex projects while continuing to develop Namibian talent and create lasting value for our communities.

Leadership:
As part of this exciting new chapter, Wouter Joubert has been appointed Managing Director Designate and will assume the role of Managing Director after a six-month transition period.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Jan-Hendrik Engelbrecht for his outstanding leadership of Nexus, first as head of our Building Division and more recently as Managing Director. Much of what Nexus has become today has been achieved under his leadership. We are grateful that he will guide this transition, and we look forward to his continued contribution in a senior consulting capacity.

Leon Goosen has been appointed Executive Chairman. A Namibian citizen and former Deloitte partner in Namibia, Leon later served as Chief Executive Officer of Bell Equipment Limited. Following his retirement from Bell, he established ALS Namibia, the vehicle through which this strategic investment has been made.

Looking Ahead:
This transaction is more than an investment—it marks the beginning of a new era.
By combining the strengths of ALS and Nexus, we are creating a business with the scale, capability and ambition to help shape Namibia's future for decades to come.

Namibia's future is being built today.
We are proud to build it together.
