Hi everyone 💚

If you’re available to volunteer, especially as a marshal, please let us know as soon as possible.

Currently we are in need of:

4 x Marshals
2 x Timekeepers
1 x Token Handler
1 x Tailwalker

As you all know by now we’ve heard back from parkrun HQ, and we’ve been given approval to use a temporary reroute while the promenade renovations are still underway.

The only condition is that we have enough marshals on the course to safely manage the new route. *This means we’ll need four marshals on Saturday, in addition to all our usual volunteers.

If we’re able to fill the roster, Swakopmund parkrun will be going ahead this Saturday!

WE’RE BACK ON!

A huge thank you to all the volunteers who stepped up and made tomorrow’s parkrun possible at such short notice!

Please arrive by 07:50, as we’ll be explaining the temporary route before we start. Please be on time so that everyone knows where they’re going.

A quick reminder:

* All children must be accompanied by an adult. Especially for the new route.

* All dogs must be kept on a short leash.

* A reminder for your barcode

💚 We have some good news! 💚

We’ve officially been given the go-ahead by parkrun head office to temporarily reroute our course while the promenade upgrades continue.

But… there’s one catch.

For parkrun to go ahead this Saturday, we need to fill our volunteer roster by lunchtime tomorrow.

At the moment we’re still looking for:
• 4 Marshals
• 2 Timekeepers
• 1 Token Handler

We know this is incredibly last minute (we only received confirmation this evening), but if you’re available to help, we’d be so grateful.

Without a full volunteer roster, we unfortunately can’t go ahead.

Thank you for your patience over the past few weeks. We know all the cancellations have been disappointing, so we’re really hoping we can make this Saturday happen.

📢 Event Notice | 1 August 2026

Hi parkrun fam,

Unfortunately, Swakopmund parkrun will be cancelled once again this weekend.

Our promenade pathway is still very much under construction and, although we’ve explored the possibility of a temporary reroute, we haven’t yet received the necessary approvals to do so.

We know many of you are eager to get back (trust us, we are too!), but changing a parkrun route isn’t something we can do without following the correct processes + procedures. With the affected section (namely our start + finish) still an active construction zone, we’ve made the decision to cancel this weekend’s event.

We’re hopeful this will be the last cancellation before we’re back on our beautiful new pathway.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. We’ll keep you updated as soon as we have more news. We cannot wait to see you all soonest.
