A respected stakeholders in Walvis Bay's local marine and industrial engineering sector and founder of Raylin Engineering, Mr. Raymond Punzul, passed away at a Cape Town medical facility at 09:00 this morning (Friday, 16 October 2026) after a long illness.
His son, Mr. Richard Punzul confirmed this just now to The Atlantic Gazette.

Breaking News: the death occurred in Walvis Bay in the early hours of this morning (Friday, 16 October 2026) of Mr. Luis Garçes (76), a well-known personality of town. Older residents would remember he was the owner of the Harbour Cafè at the entrance to the old port main gate and also owner of the popular 80's and 90's night spot - Plaza.
The late Mr. Garçes arrived in Walvis Bay from Madeira when he was eighteen years old and was a seagoing fisherman for the most of his life.
He leaves behind his wife Santelle and children Logan, Elvan and Kiva.
