Egberts benefietstocht voor de weeskinderen van Usakos - Namibia

Last week, I got these briljant pictures from Usakos. Thanks to all the sponsors and with help from the Brothers CMM from Windhoek, all these items found their way to the Childrens Education Centre in Usakos, Namibia. I hope they will bring joy to all the beautifull children over there. I found it a privilige to be part of the family for a short while, and will not forget all the good things that are happening in Usakos. Mary, baie dankie vir die onvergeetlike ervaring; many thanks for everybody who made this possible!

Tomorrow I will leave for Namibia, and I wont arrive empty handed. A total of 1540 euro has been collected! thanks to all the generous donations! Once again thanks Arie for pulling me through the tough struggle against the wind, thanks to uncle Jaap, Thijs and my parents for driving the following cars, and thanks to the welcoming committee at the finish! (and the support en route!), thanks to your support I made it, and thanks to you a group of unfortunate children will have a day to remember! I will post pictures and stories as soon as I get an internet connection!

09/14/2013 Leuven, Flemish Region, Belgium - Arie S.'s 196.0 kilometer bike ride Arie rode 196.0 kilometers and set a PR on the demerdijk betekom - aarschot segment.

Finished! 195,5 km, 8,5 hour of cycling, lots of pain ,rain and wind ,but we made it. A total of 1170 euros has been sponsored for the children of usakos! And what a welcome, arty poppers and a nice crowd of friends. Thank you all! Especially arie who pulled me through (the many) hard times.

And the second ferry! Almost in utrecht, only 10 kms to go! We are coming!! (if we don't get hit by a bus in the city :)

And we are in hank! Fierce head winds, so a bit delayed. 55 km to go!

We breached the 100 barrier and entered the netherlands. Still going strong, but starting to feel it as well. Now on a healthy pasta salad lunch provided by our supportcar south of tilburg. Utrecht, here we come! Expected eta 6:30!

The first section is finished, we passed turnhout on a good pase with a nice wind in the back. The first 70km were wet but went really well! Now we are coming in unfamilliar territories and if the customs won't stop us we will ber arriving in the netherlands in half hour! Thanx a lot to Thijs for guiding us the first section! It's getting cold, so we are getting back on our bikes!

45 kilometer zitten erop. Nu een boterhammeke en wachten op de nederlandse fourage auto die last heeft van vlaamse signalering :) wet wet wet ,maar het gaat nog lekker!
