🥋 WHAT A MEMORABLE DAY! 🥋

Today we hosted our IOGKF NAMIBIA National Competition, and what an incredible day it was! 🇳🇦

We made a little bit of IOGKF Namibia history today by starting the competition with Kobudo Kata entries for the very first time! 🥢🥋 What a proud moment for our students and our organization.

The day continued with: ✨ Family Kata – bringing families together on the tatami
✨ Team Kata – teamwork, unity and coordination
✨ Individual Kata – discipline, focus and determination
✨ Individual Kumite – courage, control and fighting spirit
✨ Noodle Kumite for our little ones – another FIRST for IOGKF Namibia! 🎉🥋

There was great excitement, lots of laughter and plenty of fun throughout the day. Most importantly, every participant had the opportunity to challenge themselves, step outside their comfort zone and build confidence through the experience.

Competitions like this are not only about winning medals. They are about growth, courage, friendship, discipline and learning to believe in yourself.

A huge CONGRATULATIONS to every single participant! 🏆👏 You all made this day special, and we are incredibly proud of you.

🥋 IOGKF Namibia – Windhoek Gasshuku, Grading & Sayonara 2026 🥋

What an incredible weekend at Sonkei Dojo, Windhoek!

A heartfelt thank you to Sensei Johann van Rooyen for hosting this well-organized event, and to Sensei Nico Maritz for successfully presenting an inspiring and educational Gasshuku and Grading

This was a unique event that combined three special occasions into one memorable weekend:

🥋 Gasshuku – Students had the opportunity to learn, improve their techniques, deepen their understanding of Goju-Ryu Karate, and train together in a spirit of friendship and respect.

🥋 Grading – Students were put to the test and demonstrated the results of their hard work, discipline, and dedication. Congratulations to everyone who successfully earned their next grade!

🍷 Wine Auction & Sayonara – The weekend concluded with a fantastic social evening and wine auction, which turned out to be a tremendous fundraising success. Thank you to everyone who donated, bid on auction items, and supported the event so generously.

A special thank you to all instructors, black belts, students, parents, and supporters who contributed to making this weekend such a great success. Your commitment and karate spirit continue to strengthen the IOGKF Namibia family

🥋 Karate Grading – Saturday, 13 June

Our grading that took place on Saturday was definitely not an ordinary grading! Sensei Nico presented a challenging grading with a unique twist, testing not only technique but also determination, endurance, and spirit.

The grading was conducted to a very high standard and was certainly not easy. All students who participated showed great perseverance and gave their very best throughout the examination.

A special highlight of the day was a pre-grading to Sandan (3rd Dan Black Belt), as well as the promotion of three new Junior Brown Belts. This is a significant achievement and reflects the hard work and dedication of the students involved.

Congratulations to all graduates on your success! Your commitment, discipline, and effort have paid off. Keep training hard and continue striving for excellence on your karate journey.
