🚩Hey Cyclists! Here are the results of the Namib Double Century MTB 2021.
🏆
Organizers of the event received only positive feedback from all involved. The cycling community can look forward to The Namib Double Century MTB being an annual fixture on the cycling calendar, with 2022 to include a running event at Goanikontes, the “unofficial oasis for all athletes in the Namib”.
The 1st place for Solo Male was non-other than Namibia’s own, Drikus Coetzee with a time of 6h 52m 17s, and is now the record holder for the event. Drikus has a lot of support from the cycling community at the coast, is a true sportsman, and is a testimony of what sport should be about.
To all the cyclists, a HUGE thank you for taking part in the 1st Namib Double Century MTB event! But more importantly, thank you to all the backup drivers, supporters, and families who not only supported their cyclists, but also supported the event.
A big thank you to BE SEEN BE SAFE for taking charge and officiating a safe and successful event.

After stocking up at Atlantic Oil Solution’s water point and taking a breather, follow the gravel road for 8km, turn left at the marked junction towards Goanikontes, after 18km, turn right and free-wheel all the way down to the finish line. 🏁
🔴Cutoff time at Goanikontes is 17h30

Head north, follow the gravel road for 11km to the C28. Turn left and follow the C28 for 54km where the next checkpoint will be at the turnoff to the “Welwitschia Planes”

🚴‍♂️🚴‍♂️Teams, it's decision time as only one rider per team to ride stage 2, while the second rider takes a rest and joins their backup vehicle.

Cyclist to head east on C14 for 20km, turn left onto D1982 and follow D1982 for 34km to Ganab/Hotsas crossing, turn left and follow the gravel route for 11km to Volstruishoogte.
