Using football to empower Namibian girls aged 10-20 to live a healthy life through participation in football leagues and festivals that integrates HIV&AIDS, life skills and healthy lifestyle education. The NFA Galz & Goals programme aims to increase access to football for adolescent girls aged 10-15 years through the creation of U/13 and U/15 leagues in targeted regions throughout Namibia integrating HIV/AIDS education, life skills and healthy lifestyle components into their programming framework in order to create a platform through which adolescent girls can gain skills and knowledge through active participation in teams and leagues. NFA Galz & Goals is a partnership between the Namibia Football Association, UNICEF Namibia and SCORE Namibia, with SPAR Western Cape/Namibia as our corporate sponsor. Around 2800 girls have been reached through football festivals, while 3000 girls regularly play in the Galz & Goals league. Each region has an elected Galz & Goals Regional Committee that is responsible for running the league. About 350 coaches have been trained in the integrated Basic Football Coaching, Sport 2 Life and Healthy Life Style curriculum provided by NFA and SCORE. Sport 2 Life is developed by UNICEF as a coaching approach to enhance life skills through playing sports, and Galz & Goals is the first programme to incorporate Sport 2 Life.
