What a great weekend away for Aqua Swimming Club at the Short Course Gala 1 in Oranjemund this past Saturday and Sunday.
We travelled down with over 20 athletes and overall it was a really successful trip for the team. Lots of memories were made, great team spirit was shown throughout the weekend, and the swimmers performed exceptionally well considering it was the first build of the season.
A massive congratulations to Jessica Humphrey who delivered two standout performances and broke two Open records:
π
100m Butterfly Open Record β 1:03,65
π
200m Freestyle Open Record β 2:06,31
Many of our swimmers came home with new personal best times and valuable race experience, which is always great to see this early in the season.
We are really proud of all the swimmers for the effort, attitude, and support they showed throughout the weekend, and we are excited for whatβs still to come this season. ππββοΈπββοΈ
It was more than just a gala. π
The Aqua Autumn Development Gala was a celebration of growth, courage, and community. Over 100 swimmers jumped in the water β many gaining confidence, learning important water safety skills, and making memories that will last forever. πββοΈπ§
This event also marked a huge milestone for us as a club β hosting our first big gala at our brand new facility. A dream that started with vision, hard work, and belief is now coming true. β¨
These moments are why we do what we do.
Not just to make swimmers, but to build confidence, opportunities, friendships, and a lifelong love for the water. π
A special thanks goes to our competitive swimmers who really stepped up on the day. From timekeeping to helping out as lifesavers, you showed leadership, responsibility, and what it really means to be part of a team bigger than yourself. We're incredibly proud of the example you continue to set for our younger swimmers. ππ
Thanks to every swimmer, parent, coach, official, and supporter who continues to be part of the Aqua journey. This is just the beginning. ππ

Our 4 Aqua swimmers recently competed at the African Aquatics Junior Swimming Championships in Oran, Algeria from the 5th to 10th of May, and we are honestly so proud of what they achieved throughout the week.
Lots of PBs, medals, national records and really solid racing against some of the best junior swimmers in Africa. These swimmers worked incredibly hard this season and it really showed in Algeria.
