🖌️Sean Ellard's Splash Squad vs 💫Studio You Stars
With rain clouds gathering overhead, the Nettas kicked off their weekend with Splash Squad taking on the Stars.There was plenty of movement at both ends of the court this week. Killi and Oli shared the ball and shooting duties for the Stars, while Otto and Kalani were together for the Splash Squad, working together to move the ball with confidence. Fletcher was busy in GD, collecting intercepts. Andi found space well, presenting around the circle for passes, while Maggie soaked up the action and was ready to jump in this week.

What stood out in this match was the teamwork on display from the Perfect Catches and the determination of the Splash Squad to keep getting in front for the ball. Penny covered the mid-court, linking defence and attack with smart passing choices. Teva, in GK, showed patience beyond her years, waiting calmly for the right option before releasing the ball. Tama worked hard to break free from his defender and, once in possession, lifted his eyes to survey the court and find the most effective route forward.
💫Studio You Stars vs 🪝Advance Fishing Perfect Catches
Azzi, proved to be one tough cookie in this match after taking a tumble and bouncing straight back into the game, moving onto the ball and chasing loose ones up. Lakey was a standout in Centre, running into space, making herself available and creating opportunities for her teammates. Fletch, in GA, timed his leads beautifully from centre passes, while Bella and Otto were alert in defence, reading the play well and coming away with some valuable intercepts.
🏆Player of the Day went to Jack Ellard!
Jack has grown into a confident and reliable presence in defence over the past few weeks. This week he is recognised for his communication and teamwork, constantly supporting those around him on court. His awareness allowed him to collect several important intercepts, winning possessions for the Splash Squad.
Well done, Jack. Your commitment and consistency are shining through, and it's wonderful to see your hard work being rewarded.

🚀Pro Shop Pocket Rockets (4) Def. 🌟Salty Superstars (3)
The Pocket Rockets moved the ball smoothly into their attacking circle and created plenty of opportunities at goal. Bodhi and Liilah found the target for the Pocket Rockets, keeping the pressure on throughout. In defence, Lacey was a standout in GD, stretching high for intercepts and making life difficult for the attacking players with her persistent pressure on the ball. Pat returned to the shooting circle and converted some tidy goals, while Mason worked hard through the mid-court, reading the play well and collecting valuable intercepts in WA.
😸Kimmi & Co. Kool Cats (3) Def. 🌟Salty Superstars (0)
In the opening stages of this match saw committee step in to help tidy up play and remind everyone that learning often comes with a little "tough love" even at Grade 3 level! Following this, there was a noticeable improvement in footwork and contact awareness from players and umpires alike.
The Kool Cats settled into the game well and worked cohesively across the court. Cassie, in Centre, appeared exactly where her team needed her, offering support and creating options both on and off the circle. Mason, in GK, read the play beautifully, knowing when to stay close to his shooter and when to step forward to challenge for an intercept. Maddison, in WA, was busy throughout the match, "rippin' in the ball" and providing a strong link into the attacking circle. Clementine worked well in WD, staying connected to the play and supporting her teammates, while Lacey continued to demonstrate a strong understanding of her role and responsibilities on court.
🚀Pro Shop Pocket Rockets (3) Draw 😸Kimmi & Co. Kool Cats (3)
This match started as a bit of a hot potato affair, with possession changing hands frequently, but as the game settled both teams found their rhythm. From there it became a thrilling contest, with neither side able to gain the upper hand.Hunter and George were instrumental in keeping the scoring low, producing some well-timed intercepts and applying strong defensive pressure throughout the match. At the attacking end, Flo, in GA, presented confidently for the ball and timed her leads well, creating opportunities for her team. Alongside Liilah, she made several promising attempts at goal and contributed important points in a match that ultimately finished all square.
📣Shout out to Dani and Astrid, for umpiring this week. We know it can be hard to make the tough calls to your peers, but hopefully seeing that it is required and not only helps them improve their understanding, it helps you too, make those strong calls kids!

🏆Player of the Day – Cassie Testor
Player of the Day went to Cassie Testor this week.Throughout the morning, Cassie demonstrated a natural understanding of the game and an impressive ability to read play as it unfolded around her. She continually presented for passes, gathered the ball with confidence and seemed to anticipate the next phase of play before it happened. Her movement through the centre third helped link defence and attack, and she consistently provided support for her teammates when they needed it most.
Cassie's understanding of the Centre position is developing beautifully, and her efforts today were impossible to miss. Outstanding work, Cassie!

N.I. Pharmacy Energy Shots (8) Def. N.I. Police The Force (1)
A tall shooter who knows how to hold space, combined with a team that knows how to feed the circle, is always going to be a challenge. The Force, whose strength lies in defence, had a tough assignment ahead of them in this match.Elijah continues to grow in confidence each week, presenting strongly for passes and recognising when coming forward is the safest option to help his team retain possession. Annalee worked tirelessly under pressure and came away with several well-earned intercepts for The Force. In defence, Elke and Chloe combined effectively, applying strong pressure in the circle before transitioning the ball quickly up the court. Nikita was eager in attack, showing controlled footwork.
The Bakery Bombers (6) Def. N.I. Police The Force (3)
The Bombers hit the court with purpose and, with Harrison returning to the line-up this week, looked dangerous in attack from the opening whistle. Their movement through the mid-court was smooth and connected, allowing them to create valuable scoring opportunities.For The Force, Annalee and Hunter stood firm in defence, reading the play well and stepping in for intercepts. Lacey, in WA, distributed the ball thoughtfully, favouring controlled passes over risky lobs and working hard to make herself available as an option throughout the match.
N.I. Pharmacy Energy Shots (4) Draw The Bakery Bombers (4)
The final Grade 2 match of the morning proved to be a tightly contested battle, with neither side willing to give an inch. Both teams worked relentlessly through the mid-court, creating opportunities at either end and responding quickly whenever possession changed hands.The shooters were kept busy as the ball travelled from circle to circle, with defensive players refusing to let easy opportunities slip through. In the end, neither team could be separated on the scoreboard, and a draw was a fitting result for such an evenly matched contest.All players should be congratulated for their determination, teamwork and effort in keeping this game so competitive right through to the final whistle.
🏆Player of the Day – Harrison Nobbs
Harrison was outstanding in GA this week. His movement through the circle, composure with ball in hand and polished footwork made him a constant threat in attack. While his accurate shooting certainly caught the eye, it was his calm influence on the game that stood out most.
Throughout the day, Harrison encouraged his teammates, supported his opponents and led by example with his sportsmanship and positive attitude. He brings a sense of confidence to those around him and demonstrates maturity whenever he steps onto the court.
His leadership, kindness and commitment to the game are a credit to him. Well done, Harrison!

(JUNIOR, SENIOR AND SOCIAL) are postponed next weekend, Saturday 6th June, due to the Bounty Ball and preparations surrounding the event.
