For over two decades, innovation has never been a sprint for us at BIC Farms Concept. It has been a marathon, one driven by curiosity, problem-solving, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to sustainable food production and we ain't stopping!
Our journey has been guided by simple but powerful questions:
How can we grow better?
How can we turn waste into wealth?
How can we solve local agricultural challenges with locally available resources?
And how can we create more decent jobs while building a sustainable food system?
These questions have shaped how we think, experiment, and innovate.
From rice husk to growing media, rather than depend entirely on conventional soil-based production, we explored the use of rice husk as a growing medium for soilless farming.
A material often treated as agricultural waste became a valuable resource for crop production.
From rice husk to biochar. We explored how rice husk could be converted into biochar, creating opportunities to add value to agricultural residues and support more resource-efficient farming practices.
From exploring resources to discovering new possibilities with Azolla. We investigated the potential of Azolla, a fast-growing aquatic fern, as a supplementary feed resource for livestock.
This represents another opportunity to explore locally adaptable alternatives that could help farmers manage production costs when properly formulated and applied.
From dependence on imported structures to local greenhouse innovation. Faced with high shipping costs, delivery turnaround time, customs clearance expenses, and the risk of costly demurrage, we continued exploring ways to localise greenhouse design and construction without compromising quality and standards.
From battling the weather to managing the growing environment through climate steering.
Through greenhouse technology and climate-management practices, we help farmers better regulate growing conditions, protect crops from adverse weather, and improve their chances of producing more consistently throughout the year.
These are more than innovations, they represent a mindset: see a problem, ask better questions, explore available resources, test solutions, and create value and the impact goes beyond the farm.
When agricultural waste becomes a useful resource, we create opportunities to reduce waste.
When greenhouse technology becomes more locally accessible, we create opportunities for more farmers to invest in modern agriculture.
When production becomes more efficient, we strengthen the potential for better yields, profitable agribusinesses, job creation, and a more resilient food system.
That is why, at BIC Farms Concept, we believe that the future of food security cannot depend on production alone.
It must also depend on innovation, knowledge, local capacity, and the ability to turn agricultural challenges into opportunities.
As we celebrate World Food Day 2026 under the theme “Innovate today. Nourish tomorrow,” we invite you to look beyond the food on your plate.
Think about the farmers who produce it, the technologies that support them, the resources we can use more wisely, and the innovations we must develop to feed future generations because the food we hope to enjoy tomorrow depends on the decisions, investments, and innovations we make today.
