Transporters’ Games Berth In Ogun.
Ogun State is set to break new ground as all measures have been put in place to hold the maiden edition of Ogun Transporters’ Games’ later in the year.
The Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Mr. Afolabi Afuape disclosed this during a meeting with stakeholders in the transportation sector in Abeokuta, noted that the games were initiated to enhance the physical and mental fitness of operators in the sector.

The Ogun State Government is to launch a sports competition among transporters in the state in its bid to enhance the physical and mental fitness of stake holders in the transportation sector.
The maiden edition of Ogun Transporters’ Games, which is scheduled to hold later this year, according to the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Mr. Afolabi Afuape is also aimed at uniting members of different transport unions.
Speaking during a meeting with stake holders in the transportation sector in Abeokuta, Afuape said the competition is to be organised by the state government in conjunction with a technical partner, SOL-911.
‘’The aim of the games was to re-orientate members of the unions to shun violence through sporting activities. This competition will again make the State cynosure of all eyes as the games will be the first of its kind in the country’’, the commissioner stated.
Representative of SOL-911, Engr. Dayo Ogundipe revealed that eight unions have indicated their willingness to participate in the competition, adding that the eight teams will compete for 120 medals in 10 different events, which include 100m, 200m, 400m, 4 x 100m, Relay, Marathon race, Ayo game, Table Tennis, Draught game, Football and Invitational Relay.
The unions that will be participating, according to him, are NURTW, RTEAN, ACCOMORAN, AMORAN, TORAN, TOAN, NATA and ASSOGRASH.
In their separate remarks, the union leaders applauded the initiative, pledging their total support towards the success of the competition
