NWFL Championship 2025: Imo Striker Queens FC Off to Flying Start with 0-4 Dominant Win Over Delta Babes FC.
Imo Striker Queens FC started the 2025/2026 NWFL Championship on a ruthless note with a commanding 0-4 crushing of Delta Babes FC.
The one-way traffic encounter that went down at the Abiriba Stadium 🏟️, Abia State, on Saturday marks the first outing for both teams in the race for premiership promotion.
A first-half lone strike from Ugbala Osinachi and a second-half hat-trick from Pattra were more than enough for the Owerri Lionesses to pocket the maximum 3 points and go top of group B2.
Though the tie was halted by a heavy downpour, and the match officials postponed it at the 70th minute.
The remaining duration of the game was decided on Sunday morning, with Imo Striker Queens FC jealously protecting their wide lead till the end of the game.
Coach Nelly Orisakwe Azuka was delighted with the victory but promised to work on the team's lapses for much improved outings in the remaining matches.
The captain of the side, Nkwocha Precious, despite the wide margin win, still bemoans chances created by her team that were not converted.
She, however, promised to do better in the next games.
Hattrick heroine Oparanmegwa Pattra believes that the great start from her team is a morale booster that will motivate them to do better in their subsequent matches.
She revealed that her techniques in set pieces are in her DNA, though she does more training for perfection.
Imo Striker Queens FC will now take on Osun Babes FC in the second match of group B2 at the Abiriba Stadium 🏟️ on Monday, September 15, with kickoff time set for 9am.
