*NEW YEAR MESSAGE TO BCAN MEMBERS NATIONWIDE BY THE NATIONAL PRESIDENT BASKETBALL COACHES ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA (BCAN) COACH SCOTT NNAJI*
1. On behalf of the National Executive Council (NEC) of our cherished association, I warmly congratulate distinguished members of the Basketball Coaches Association of Nigeria (BCAN) throughout the states of the federation for the successful cross-over to the year 2023.
2. We thank the Almighty God for the special grace to witness another year while we remember and solemnly pray for the souls of our departed colleagues in the years past to continue to rest in perfect peace. Amen.
3. You will agree with me that the year 2022 was a turbulent year for team owners and players as the country witnessed an unprecedented level of neglect in recent years which also impacted negatively on the growth of the game we love.
4. We appreciate the partnership of BCAN with notable entities such as MARK D BALL, MO FOUNDATION, HOTCOAL, YOU ARE A CHAMPION FOUNDATION, JOHN ALLAGH FOUNDATION, SRAP,VETERANS OF ABUJA, JTOWN HOOPS etc., which has continued to cushion the effect of the increasing interest in coaching basketball through concessionary educational channels to members over the years.
5. In the same vein, we cannot forget the lingering insecurity challenges in the country that have continued to pose threats to the administration of teams while urging both Federal and state governments not to relent in their continued efforts to put an end to this menace. We use this opportunity to appreciate the Federal, State Governments and Various security operatives in the country for their efforts so far to stem the tide of insecurity in the country.
6. Even though amid the challenges, we can still find the strength to thank the Almighty God for His grace upon our lives and businesses as we continue to seek the face of God in prayers for economic prosperity and protection of lives and property in the new year.
7. We thank the Almighty God and once again appreciate esteemed members, resource persons and leaders of BCAN for their support to ensure the successful delivery of various BCAN programs in the year 2022. Especially recognising individuals who gave platforms for young coaches to gain knowledge with Awards, . We are grateful that in all of this adversity, the majority of our members were able to overcome these setbacks to forge ahead with great expectations to support the association.
8. Once again, the need for members to imbibe team spirit in our purpose of repositioning our great association cannot be over-emphasised as we encourage members at all levels of the association to work together as a team. This is necessary to achieve collective prosperity for our dear association at all levels.
9. Therefore, we seek members' support for various BCAN Projects/ Programmes that are currently ongoing or about to hold.
10. Specifically, we encourage prompt payment of annual dues and other fees at all BCAN administrative levels. We thank God that our newly embraced technologically driven payment platforms have made payment of national dues and others to be achieved seamlessly.
11. Your continued support is therefore cherished to achieve better BCAN.
12. In conclusion, I want to appreciate the members of BCAN for their resilience and commitment over time, also States and Local Executives are equally appreciated. I thank all the elders and members of BCAN nationwide for their support at all times.
13. As we celebrate 2023, it is our prayer that 2023 shall bring more joy and happiness to you and your family. May the new year birth the turnaround we crave as members of BCAN and Nigerians. May our businesses and teams continue to flourish just as we pray for good health for members and leaders of the association.
14. I wish you all a prosperous and better 2023.
15. Thank you and God bless.
Signed.
